Pets are a part of the family. They are companions, playmates, guardians, and the purest form of love in the flesh. There is such a powerful bond between humans and their pets that at times, those animals get better treatment than most humans do.
And even though their life expectancy is so much shorter, those few years leave a permanent mark on their owners.
Such was BaoBao’s legacy.
Uploader M13 shared this video of his son saying goodbye to their beloved dog. BaoBao was almost seventeen years old in this video. That’s a long life for a dog. The man is lucky. But as is with life, time caught up with them.
Only a few seconds in and your heart will break at his son’s reaction as he says he just said farewell to their beloved pet. Grab tissues, you’ll need them. And if you have a dog, give it a long, loving hug.
Barks and bikes.
M13 is a Canadian man with Scottish ancestry. He is a vlogger who loves riding his motorcycle everywhere but also features his travels and food cravings on his channel. He seems to be based in Taiwan and if you listen closely, he speaks the language.
He is Mordeth13 on Facebook and rides an older Kawasaki Ninja 650 R. Serious stuff. But BaoBao loved riding with him and the dog has done over 200,000km on a scooter as well. She was a rider. M13 found her as a puppy as he was riding with friends through the mountains.
That fateful day.
He was out riding with BaoBao on a scooter when they fell. M13 says they weren’t even going that fast, that it was a walking pace. They were out buying lunch when it happened and the only vehicle near them ran over BaoBao’s back crippling her and smashing her pelvis with its rear tire.
BaoBao was already very old and there was no guarantee of her getting better with surgery. Her senses and bladder control were already compromised which meant that complications would only worsen in time.
A painful decision.
BaoBao was in good spirits in this video. M13 made the tough decision to let her go and put her down. And he let his son know. The poor boy’s tears are so heartfelt and any dog owner out there surely understands his pain.
And so father and son both say their goodbyes at the vet’s office. Dad explains to his son why it has to be done. BaoBao looks at them both with eyes so full of love and life. A life she gave and shared with these two.
Even viewers were emotional,
“Sounds like she lived a full life with lots of adventure and had a loving family. She was very blessed. It was sad watching your little boy cry. I hope he finds love again with another critter.”
She did. She truly did.
BaoBao looks at the crying boy as if to say, “I’ll be alright. I’ll always be with you. I love you.” She looks up at M13 as well with a reassuring look that says, “I know, master. It was an awesome ride. I’ll always be by your side.”
And you know what? That’s probably true. BaoBao will always be with her two boys.
