When 11-year-old Rocco Risso’s best friend and rescue dog Jack disappeared eight months ago, the boy’s world came tumbling down. The boy was completely distraught without his dog by his side.
He didn’t know if Jack was safe or if he was fed, if he had shelter, or if he was missing Rocco as much as Rocco was missing Jack.
But even though Jack had vanished without a trace, Rocco never once gave up the hope that he would be reunited with his four-legged pal again.
“I can’t explain how much Rocco cried and missed him for all those months,” Rocco’s mother Romi told The Dodo. “But he always believed that Jack would reappear.”
Look how cute these best buds are! Seeing how close they are, you can only imagine how tough this time was for Rocco.
The entire family went searching all over Argentina for Rocco. However, they still weren’t able to find Jack over an eight-month span.
Rocco was devastated and missed his dog more than anything. Even though his heart was filled with sadness, Rocco kept his faith knowing that his dog would return one day.
For Rocco, giving up on his friend Jack was just not an option.
Rocco even had a dream that Jack came home to him. His instinctual faith eventually manifested on Monday when a family friend spotted a dog that looked just like Jack who was lingering near a local gas station.
Turns out, it was Jack!
“I told Rocco that I had a gift for him,” said Romi. “When I called him to the front yard he saw his friend Jack, I felt he was reborn. He kept saying, ‘I knew it.'”
Their heartfelt reunion was caught on video and shows the boy running up to his pal saying, “Jack!” and holding him close as he weeps happy tears over his dog.
Now the two are right back to being the best of friends.
“Rocco is so happy, and he and Jack are closer than ever,” Romi explains. “Rocco always says that the most important things in life are pets and family. For him, they are one int he same.”
Seeing how heartbroken Rocco was without Jack really makes us appreciate our pets just a little bit more. We’re so glad that they are together again!
