It is commonly known that animals are special to children. It is not unusual to see shy children open up when you ask them what their favorite animal is or when they simply see an animal around.
A Special Bond
The connection children have with pets and wild animals are so unique that animals are able to perceive it, too. And, while pets are sometimes jealous of new family members, aka new babies, most of the time animals seem to bond with their tiny humans just like their humans bond with them.
And this is not only the case with pets, but it seems it is also true for wild animals.
Just like what happened in Virginia a couple of months back, when a boy brought a deer home!
The Brown family were on a short trip to Massanutten Resort, Virginia. They had a good time and were just packing up to head back home to Ragged Point Beach. Dominic, 4-years-old, was outside, playing in the woods, while mom Stephanie was busy taking things out of the refrigerator when she heard footsteps behind her.

“I remember I went back into the kitchen, and I was getting something out of the refrigerator, and I turned my head around cause I heard him kind of like wiping his little boots on the mat,” Stephanie said in an interview with ABC 8NEWS- WRIC.
Stephanie thought it was just Dominic, but when she turned around she was shocked by what she saw. Her boy had brought an actual deer home.
The young mother couldn’t believe her eyes. I mean, okay, children do love animals, but how often does a wild animal feel safe enough around a human to follow them home as if it were a family pet?
So, after a few moments in which Stephanie literally froze and had no idea what she should do or how she should react, she regained her composure and took action.
“I did not move my eyes off of them, and [I whipped my phone] out slowly and then boom,” she said during the same interview, describing what she did when she saw the unlikely duo in her kitchen.
Dominic posed for the photo, while the deer looked quite perplexed. Of course, it might have followed the little person home, but posing for a photo? This would have been too much!
Although Dominic was excited about his new friend and would have surely loved to take it to his Virginia home, the family knew that this could not happen by any means.
Stephanie explained to her son that the deer needed to return to its home, the woods, and Dominic understood. The two of them took the deer back to the woods, where it belonged.
But, could Dominic let his new friend go without giving it a name? Of course not! Flash the deer will always be in Dominic’s heart and he will remember it “deerly”.
Stephanie’s post with Dominic and Flash on Facebook has gone viral with more than 46k shares, and Dominic even appeared on TV in an interview along with his mom, during which he shared his unique experience.
Dominic really went outside and brought a deer back…

What a lovely story! Dominic must have a gentle soul if the deer was comfortable enough to follow him home.
