When a new mom brought her baby daughter home from the hospital, she worried about how her Boxer Bella would react. The mom worried that Bella would be jealous of the attention the baby was getting. She was nervous that Bella would act out.
It turned out, the mom had nothing to worry about. When the mom put her baby, Malina, into her crib, Bella started guarding her.
Sweet Bella slept underneath the crib, making sure that nobody harmed her new baby sister. At first, Bella simply laid under the crib, quiet and content.
When Malina started crying, Bella immediately burst into action.
Bella jumped out from underneath the crib and went to investigate what was wrong. She stared up at Malina, worry on her face. Then, she looked over at her mom and whined, nervous that something was wrong with the baby.
When Malina stopped crying, Bella quieted down too. Bella knew that Malina was safe for now, but she stayed by the newborn’s side just in case she was needed.
Many dogs react like Bella when they meet their human siblings for the first time.
Both domesticated and wild dogs have fierce protection instincts, and they’re very loyal to their families. As soon as a new baby is established as part of their family, they’ll guard it constantly. Boxers, in particular, are very good guard dogs. They’re very smart and quick to sense danger.
Bella is a great guardian for little Malina—she’ll always protect her from any danger, big or small. If you want to see Bella’s protection skills in action, check out the video below!
