When it comes to pets, everyone has a preference.

Some people like cats, some like dogs, and some people like birds. Birds are smart animals and they can be just as loyal and affectionate as other pets. As with most pets, the more time you put into them, the more they learn and the smarter they become. Some birds and talk and sing, but how many can dance?

Jonathan and Sadie are new bird buddies. They like to do the things most birds do: eat, fly, sing, and get petted by their owner.

They also have another hobby that not many birds share: They like to dance.

They don’t just casually dance or make silly movements that people suggest might be dancing; they can seriously bust a move.

When the music is playing, Jonathan and Sadie are happy as can be, and they both like to jam to their favorite tunes. Their owner decided to record them so the rest of the world could enjoy them, too.

In the video, music can be heard playing the background while the birds bob their heads around.

They really seem to be enjoying the song. The owner’s children are each holding the birds, and the song “What Is Love” is playing in the background. The way the birds are moving their heads is similar to how the characters in the movie “A Night at The Roxbury” dance to the same song.

If you aren’t familiar with the song, some of the lyrics include:

“What is love?
Baby don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me
No more

Baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me
No more
What is love?
Yeah

I don’t know why you’re not fair
I give you my love, but you don’t care
So what is right and what is wrong?
Gimme a sign

What is love?
Baby don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me
No more

What is love?
Baby don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me
No more

(Woah-woah-woah, oh, oh)
(Woah-woah-woah, oh, oh)

Oh, I don’t know, what can I do?
What else can I say, it’s up to you
I know we’re one, just me and you
I can’t go on

What is love?
Baby don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me
No more

What is love?
Baby don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me
No more

(Woah-woah-woah, oh, oh)
(Woah-woah-woah, oh, oh)”

The birds appear to actually be having a dance-off.

Which one can do it better? They are both pretty good dancers, so it’s hard to judge. The family seems to love getting their birds to dance and being able to film it. They can be heard laughing in the background as the birds dance.

Some people have claimed that the birds are not moving their head because of the music, but because they are hungry.

In the wild, baby birds tell their parents they want food by bobbing their heads in a manner similar to how Jonathan and Sadie are moving theirs in the video. While this may be true, Jonathan and Sadie are well fed and cared for, and if anything, they are dancing so they can get a treat. It’s easy to see that they are loved and don’t have to dance for their food.

The neat thing about this video is that Jonathan and Sadie have never practiced these dance moves together.

In fact, this is their first meeting. Since birds usually bond with a mate for life, the family is hoping these two would become lifelong friends. Since they already share a love of dancing, it looks like they are off to a good start.

The family is glad that they have some entertaining pets, and if these birds can already dance, what else can they be taught to do? Maybe they can be taught a few more dance moves. The family didn’t say if this is the only song the birds dance to. Maybe they have a thing for ’80s dance music? No matter what their music preference, there’s no denying that these are some cool birds.
