Bird and baby.

At first, this beautiful cockatiel just sits and stares lovingly at the sleeping baby girl. It doesn’t take long, however, for him to want to do more than just stare at her.

Good morning, beautiful!

After the bird has awoken the baby from her nap, he begins to sing to her. What a lucky baby to hear such a sweet lullaby! Studies have shown that babies can hear sounds from their environment, even while they are still in the womb.

So, for this baby, the harmonious sounds of this cockatiel’s lullaby are comforting and calming, since she’s been exposed to them while in the womb and since birth.

Lullabies

Besides sounding relaxing and beautiful, lullabies have other benefits:

  • Lullabies stimulate the auditory, visual, and language centers of the brain, thus stimulating the young child’s brain.
  • Soothe and calm a baby through their melodies and rhythms.
  • Help the baby develop feelings of trust and assurance by allowing the baby to feel safe and cared for.So, just by doing what comes naturally to this Cockatiel, he’s actually helping this infant in many ways!

Kissy, kissy!

Even cuter than hearing the bird serenade the infant, are the kisses that he gives to her. This bird has obviously bonded with this baby and just showers her with love and affection. It’s easy to see that this cockatiel is the perfect pet for this family.

Which are the friendliest pet birds?

As we can see in the video, this cockatiel is not only friendly but loving and gentle too!

If you’re looking for a bird with a sweet temperament like this Cockatiel, then these are the species that Spruce Pets recommends:

  1. Cockatiels: Obviously from this video, we can see just how sweet they are. But, did you know, that they can also learn to mimic many sounds, including doorbells, phones, and microwaves?
  2. Parakeets: Not only are these birds friendly and affectionate, but they can also be easily trained and can learn tricks.
  3. Cockatoos: These are a larger, very intelligent bird that needs a lot of attention and stimulation.
  4. Hyacinth Macaws: These gentle giants are the largest parrots and love to play with their owners.
  5. Doves: These are some of the gentlest breeds out there and do not require a whole lot of attention, so they are perfect for busy people.
  6. Green-Cheeked Conures: These friendly birds are intelligent and playful which makes them very entertaining companions.

There are reasons so many people love Cockatiels!

These crazy birds, originally from Australia, are comical, outgoing, and cuddly. Male cockatiels are also known for serenading their favorite people, which leads me to believe that the cockatiel in this video is a male and the sleeping baby is one of his favorite people!
