There’s something about biker gangs – they’re known for looking the toughest but for being the biggest softies at heart. The sad fact of the matter is, animal neglect and abuse is still a thing in 2020, and will probably always be a thing. But we can all do our part to help make a positive change to animals’ lives, and that’s exactly what a group of bikers decided to do.

The bikers came together and decided to form a group called Rescue Ink, where they could focus on saving animals from abuse.

The non-profit organization saves all kinds of animals, from dogs and cats to horses, pigs, fish, chickens, and even a boa constrictor! Let’s take a look at some of the amazing work that they’ve been a part of.

Rescue Ink is a diverse group, including those who are full-time bikers, as well as weightlifters, veterans, former police officers, and lawyers.

These macho men all have one thing in common – they love animals and hate the thought of them being abused or neglected. If the group hears of an animal that is being treated badly, they will step in and make sure that the animal is taken to safety.

“Some people like to think of us as superheroes,” Rescue Ink say in their mission statement. “The truth is, we are super animal lovers (and protectors). Through the years, and through many caseloads, obstacles, and downright challenges, we remain strong and dedicated to our mission.”

The group is prepared to fight animal abuse and neglect in any way possible – though they are sure to stick to the law.

The work that Rescue Ink has done is phenomenal – they’ve broken up illegal dogfighting rings, protected animals during a hurricane, stopped someone from killing a stray cat, and even waded into some sewage to save some ducklings. So it’s not surprising that the team receives over 250 help calls a day!

“Rescue Ink does whatever necessary within the means of the law — that’s what our lawyers tell us to say — to fight abuse and neglect of all kinds,” Rescue Ink said.

Rescue Ink doesn’t let any setbacks hold them down. When Hurricane Sandy tore through their shelter in 2012, the team quickly jumped into action, making sure each and every shelter animal was safe. It was difficult work that involved each animal being quickly transported to a safer area, but miraculously, they all survived.

But unfortunately, the shelter was very badly damaged, and Rescue Ink had a big job ahead of them! But the team weren’t quitters – and they decided instead to make a YouTube video appealing for donations.

The video soon received over 53,000 views, and thankfully, Rescue Ink was able to get back on track.

We think that this just goes to show that stereotypes over how people look can be very deceiving! This group of bikers is doing the most amazing job keeping animals safe, and we’re so grateful for all the work they do.
