Unfortunately, there are millions of sheltered pups and kittens waiting for a forever home and a lovely family to adopt them. There will always be animals in need who are having a very hard time finding their home, but there’s one beer company in North Dakota that wants to make a difference.
The Fargo Brewing Company wants to help local dogs get adopted, so they decided to put shelter dog photos on the labels of their beer cans.
What better way to promote shelter pups than on beer cans? Six animals who are being taken care of by 4 Luv of Dog Rescue from Fargo, North Dakota, have been put on the labels. In other words, there are six ‘pawsome’ cans in total that can be collected.
Nyx, Bizzy, Jensen, Hobie, Moby, and Virginia are the six pups on the labels who are still looking for a forever home.
This collaboration with the local animal shelter is a win-win situation for both, as the brewing company gets some attention for their kind act and it puts more eyes on the shelter and their pups as well. Everybody wins!
The six cans of Original Lager were presented during an event held by 4 Luv of Dog Rescue, and everything was done in honor of the six featured dogs on the cans.
They are being called the ‘oneders’, because these pups are having a more difficult time getting adopted. They’re not as sociable as other dogs and potential adopters are scared off. Even though they’re a bit timid, these pups are all affectionate and loving animals who just want someone to take care of them.
“Our One-der dogs are dogs that will live their best life in a home by themselves and there’s no other pets,” volunteer Jerad Ryan at 4 Luv of Dog, told CNN. “So, they can be a little bit tougher to find homes for, foster homes, that type of thing.”
People who were at the event could meet the six shelter pups and had the first opportunity to buy a sixpack of the cans as well. You can get the full collection for $9. A portion of the revenue will also be donated to the organization.
For Ryan and the rest of the shelter staff, these ‘oneder’ dogs hold a very special place in their hearts.
The man actually also fostered one of the six pups, Bizzy. Ryan works at a labeling company for breweries, and that’s when he had a brilliant idea for a collaboration.
“I was always trying to think of ways to promote her and the other less fortunate dogs in our rescue,” Ryan told. “At my job at Northern Plains Label we produce labels for breweries, and I just had the light bulb style idea to feature the dogs on beer cans.”
“I approached my boss about donating beer can labels to a brewery willing to feature our dogs. He loved the idea. I asked Fargo Brewing if they would be willing to do this for us and they loved it too. They have gone above and beyond with donating profits and having an event where the public can come and meet our Oneder dogs, as they don’t get to attend events with the other dogs. The response from the community has already been amazing and heartwarming,” he said to Food and Wine.
One thing is for sure: these six pups have just gotten a lot more attention, and the heartwarming story even made national headlines. Nyx, Bizzy, Jesen, Hobie, Moby, and Virginia will most definitely benefit from the whole thing, as well as the other pups in the shelter. This definitely spreads the message of ‘adopt, don’t shop’.
The response has simply been amazing.
“We hope that having these dogs featured on the cans will help raise awareness and shine a spotlight on them where they might normally have been overlooked,” Fargo Brewing Company stated.
“This really has been great exposure for these harder to adopt dogs, and I would be surprised if this doesn’t lead to an adoption or two,” Ryan concluded.
