Sometimes even the best of ideas can have terrible consequences. This is true in the animal kingdom just as much as it is in human society.
Recently, trail camera footage captured a bear who went from having a really nice time to a really bad time in quick succession.
The bear was captured messing with someone’s water tank.
Bears have always had a poor sense of personal property and this big fella was just looking to find a good back scratcher.
Scratching its back on the post.
The video begins with the bear playing around with the fence around the water tank.
It is actually quite amazing how human-like the bear looks as they are doing this. It is almost as if they are a great ape or some other close relative of people.
After playing around with the fencing for a bit, the bear then turns its back to the post and begins moving up and down it, scratching its back in the process.
It looks like the bear is having a truly wonderful time.
Then, very quickly, he’s having a much worse experience.
Hitting himself in the junk with a hose.
While the bear is playing around and scratching its back, it has the hose from the water tank in its mouth. We’re not really sure why the bear was doing this but it ended up having some seriously negative results.
The bear’s paw reaches up and grabs at the hose and this sends the hose whipping around and directly into the bear’s junk. It’s a moment many of us are able to relate all too well with. It transcends species, impacting humans and bears alike.
Dealing with the immediate impacts.
The bear’s reaction proves that humans and animals aren’t so different after all. They did exactly what many humans do in the same situation.
They moved around with no discernable destination and hoped the pain would soon subside.
At first, the bear tries to walk away with its legs spread apart wide.
This is a fairly standard move for any animal that was recently hit in the junk. The idea perhaps being that the wider space you can give your groin to recover, the faster it will do so.
Time to recover.
Following their immediate response, the bear begins to just lay around on the ground. Perhaps, they are just trying to ride out the last few moments of what is surely an uncomfortable experience.
Where does the bear go from here?
The next question for the bear is where they go from here? Will they begin to associate scratching their back with searing groin pain?
Perhaps they will only begin to associate that person’s water tank with searing groin pain. Only time will tell.
One thing can be sure, however. This bear never wants to experience the same thing again.
