Which would be the animal that you would love to adopt as a pet, but for one reason or the other, you weren’t able to do so? Did you know that the most popular animal to have as a pet is the dog? Only in the U.S, around 63 million people own a dog.
Dogs, cats, fish, and birds are the most “attractive” animals to people to have in their house, while only 4.5 million people prefer keeping reptiles as pets.
In today’s story, we are going to see an amazing duo, a young woman along with her beloved pet! Meet the beautiful, white as snow, 4-year-old ball python, Opal, and her “mom”!
For those who love reptiles and they are considering having a snake as a pet, a ball python is an ideal pet to get accustomed to having a reptile around your house.
What is amazing is that, unlike other pets, you will be happy to know that pythons can be around for more than 20 years, often reaching 30. That means you will be lucky to have your favorite pet around for longer than most people.
They are very friendly and “docile” animals, which makes them usually really easy to handle.
Also, they are usually kept in a tank that you will have to secure carefully, as they are really good at escaping.
As you see Opal, really loves crawling around, and she can often be found “wrapped” around the body of her mom. Now, if you know anything about pythons, you know they are constrictors, which means they kill their prey via constriction and not by biting them and injecting them with venom.
Of course, Opal’s mom is hardly in danger, as you can see how much Opal seems to love her and how close they are. Their bond really looks like a mother’s with her child.
Ball Pythons can be really big, like between 2 to 5 feet long, and imagine they aren’t as large as other contristing snakes out there.
Opal’s mom playfully characterizes Opal as a cat, “You are such a cat!”
As Opal really likes to climb everywhere, sometimes messing things in the process, exactly as a cat would do. However, she’s a very curious animal, quite observant as her “mom” explains.
It’s really obvious that Opal is one of the cutest things ever, especially if we consider that many people might find reptiles a bit weird to have around.
According to Opal’s mom, Opal has many admirers and many people often ask to try and hold her. They seem to like her white skin and blue eyes, but if you observe Opal closely, she does give out some really friendly vibes!
The Dodo posted on their YouTube channel a video of Opal and her mom, which accumulated more than 13 million views, with many people just “drooling” over Opal.
One wrote, “I’ve never seen a snake that interacts so readily, that is fascinating and adorable.”, while another said “The only snake I’ve ever thought was “cute.” She’s adorable.”
So, if you ever do decide to become proud snake owners, you should consider starting with adopting a ball python as cute as our dear Opal here!
