If you grew up in the 90s, chances are, when you hear the word ‘woodpecker,’ only one character comes to mind.

It’s the famous Woody!

Lantz created the character Woody Woodpecker in the 1940s. He became so popular that even until now; we think of this anthropomorphic character when we hear about woodpeckers.

No doubt, woodpeckers are incredible creatures, but how much do you know about them?

Woodpeckers have really long tongues. In fact, it’s twice as long as their bills. Their long tongues can reach the insects inside the holes they peck.

With all that pecking, you would think that woodpeckers suffer from constant headaches, but lucky them, they don’t. The reason behind this is that their bills help distribute the shock throughout their skull.

Also, woodpeckers can really cling to trees, so don’t worry about them falling. No matter how hard they peck, they won’t budge.

Can you imagine how strong they can cling?

Colton saw his sister outside and heads out in confusion and asks. “What is going on? Why is that thing on your head?”

With a lot of patience, Colton methodically untangled his sister’s hair without hurting the bird.

According to Brittany, her brother held on to the bird’s neck and slowly removed each hair tangled on the bird’s feet.

At last, Colton was able to remove the woodpecker, and he slowly put the bird on the ground.

In an interview with Inside Edition, Brittany joked that her mother used to ask her to comb her “nest” hair, and now, she realized, maybe, the baby woodpecker thought it was a nest.
