The internet once again proves that it loves all things fluffy as this video of an adorable baby beaver grooming itself goes viral. Kittens and puppies are so yesterday – today, it’s all about that rescue beaver, which became an internet sensation when it decided to be extra cute and groom itself during “pool time.”
The little guy (suspected to be just 4-weeks old at the time) was alone and had an injured tail when it was found under a tree at a golf course in Calgary, Canada. He was taken to the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation, which is where this adorable video is filmed.
According to the institute’s executive director Holly Duvall, they suspect that he was picked up by a predator and then dropped on the golf course. “It’s not normal at this age for beaver kits to be separated from their parents,” she explains. “They’re very bonded.”
Beavers enjoy spending much of their days relaxing and playing in the water, as this baby beaver proves. A member of the institute caught him happily grooming himself in his little oasis.
“He’s pretty typical for a baby beaver. They love their pool time,” Duval said. “He loves to groom afterward which is a great sign.”
Though Duvall describes this baby beaver as “typical,” it is clear by the internet’s reaction that he is anything but.
The AIWC currently has the baby beaver under their care. They anticipate that his recovery and integration will take an additional two years.
