As intelligent human beings, we understand what it is to share the world with animals. We have the resourcefulness and the empathy to treat these creatures with the love and respect they deserve.

Not all of us have the same interest when it comes to the protection of other species, however. There are times when having fun can be taken to the extreme.

A Canadian goose was found to be strapped with what looked like carefully planted explosives. Yes, You definitely read that correctly. Be warned, the following images may trigger you if you are sensitive to animal cruelty.

The horrific story began in Baldwin New York when a group of animal rescue workers were notified when a goose was observed to have something threatening strapped to his body.

The goose was seen in Silver Lake Park and immediately volunteers from PETA and the Long Islanders orchestrating for nature (LION) showed up to the rescue.

The poor bird seemed to be struggling due to the fact that what looked like a huge firecracker was duct-taped to its body. Unfortunately, some people really are that cruel. It’s a good thing that there are still people out there willing to help in these dire situations.

These rescuers took the time to assess the situation and help out an animal in need. They noticed that the firecracker had been lit however it looks like the goose took matters into its own hands and presumably jumped into the water to try and save itself from the captor’s evil intentions.

The entire incident was posted on Facebook by the Long Islanders orchestrating for nature Facebook page.

A serial killer in the making duct taped fireworks to the chest of a Canada goose at silver lake park in Baldwin, New York. The explosive appear to have been lit but was soaked in water presumably when the cowardly perpetrator let go and the bird wisely escaped into the water.

The link between animal abuse and violence toward others has been well documented by the FBI. Until the person or persons who strap this firework to the schools are brought to justice, other animals in humans are in danger

LION and PETA are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction on cruelty charges of the person or persons who committed this horrific act.

Please donate towards this reward below. If it remains unclaimed all funds will be redirected to LIONS mission of helping animals on Long island and beyond.

We are truly shocked anyone would want to commit these heinous acts towards such a docile and peaceful creature. Canadian geese are known to eat grain from fields and they hang around on shallow water while mostly staying close to their flock.

The geese can be frequently seen in areas where there is water and grassy fields, so a park it’s the perfect location to find one of these birds. It’s really such a shame that this poor goose had to experience such a terrible tragedy.
