There’s been a lot of bad news coming out of Australia in recent times, but here’s a more positive, cheerful little story about a furry critter finding itself an unlikely location!
If there’s one thing we can say about animals with absolute certainty, it’s that they’re unpredictable.
They never stop surprising us with their antics and behavior, as Bree Blakeman found out earlier this week when she walked into her office to find that the place had been trashed.
Walked into my office and thought someone must have broken in because it looks trashed… and then I saw this little sweetie covering behind my computer. ❣️ pic.twitter.com/B4tuj0kYpT

At first, she logically assumed that someone must have broken in.
There were books all over the floor and a hole in the ceiling too, with random bits of paper and Blakeman’s office artwork strewn all around.
But then she discovered that the culprit was still in the room, and he was a lot smaller, furrier, and cuter than she might have imagined.
You see, the culprit of this crime was none other than a fluffy little possum, who was sitting behind Blakeman’s computer monitor and cowering in a corner, peeking out at her and looking quite guilty with all that mess around.
In an interview with Buzzfeed, Blakeman revealed how it all went down:
It wasn’t until I went to check my computer on the far side of the room that I noticed a fluffy little face staring at me from behind the computer. And that’s when I also noticed the toilet droppings and urine everywhere too. It all made sense.
She also tweeted about the incident, with her tweet quickly going viral and catching the world’s attention.
Many people retweeted images of the possum, commenting on its rather sheepish expression.

It seems that the possum must have entered the office through the hole in the ceiling and then realized it couldn’t get back out.
It had tried climbing up the bookcases, pulling down a bunch of books and paintings in the process, but had tired itself out and failed to escape, leaving Blakeman to handle the situation.
Blakeman could have panicked, but she says she wasn’t too bothered by the situation and simply felt sorry for the little creature, giving it some water and a carrot to try and show she meant it no harm before closing the door and getting in touch with some animal control workers to come and help.
Later that day, a box trap was set up with some fruit inside, with the hopes of luring the possum in and trapping it so it could be safely taken away and relocated in the wilderness.
Unfortunately, an unexpected hail storm delayed the plan, and the possum was still in the office a day later, but it finally managed to find its way out through the hole in the ceiling, leaving Blakeman with a lot of possum poop to clean up. It’s nice to know this funny story had a happy ending, and let’s hope the fluffball has learned a valuable lesson from its little office adventure.
