If your mother is not in the mood for playtime, then there will be no playtime for anyone.
No one knows this better than this colt that wanted to play in the dirt. What started off as relaxation and innocent horseplay, pun intended, quickly ended was the colt’s mother came stepping in. This is one momma that was not in the mood for any shenanigans and she was not afraid to let her colt know it.
This colt was only relaxing in a soft dirt mound when his momma walked up on him. What started as a relaxing day in the dirt changed once his mom came. He quickly got up, but the dirt went flying everywhere, including on his mom. The colt thought running and playing in the dirt would be a fun game, but in one move the colt ruined his own fun.
In his joy of flinging the dirt everywhere, he accidentally kicks his mom with a back leg, uh-oh.
The colt does not realize that the accidental kick had instantly changed the fun playtime to serious momma time.
The colt keeps skipping around and having fun and the mom has a different idea in mind. She keeps moving around but only trying to get aim at her son. Once she has him in her sights, she gives him a small but swift kick to his behind.
She is one tough momma and she wants him to learn quickly that he cannot kick her at any time, even when he is playing. The kick to his behind has the colt run in a quick circle around their pen. He must have been surprised by the quick turn of events.
He has learned that there is no horsing around on his mom’s watch.
Then the inevitable happens.
This colt is just like every other child. When he has realized that his mother is mad at him, he wants to cuddle up, apologize, and make his mom happy again. The colt goes straight to his mom’s snout in apology. He tries to give his mother some love with his own snout, but she is not ready to let him off that easy. So, she turns her snout the other way from her son and eventually she moves her entire body away from him.
This does not slow down the colt’s willingness to try and get back in his mother’s good graces.
He runs around and tries to meet her face to face again, but she is still not having it. She is giving him the total silent treatment that so many mothers are great at. When they are not yelling, the guilt sits even harsher in children and this momma colt is using that technique to the fullest.
The colt regroups after his second time being ignored and decides to give her the silent treatment right back. He runs around his mom, as if to make sure she can see him, but he ignores her right back. It seems as if he gets his stubbornness from his mama! Yet, as all mother and sons go, they will be back to loving on each other in no time.
Every child, or colt, does have to learn their manners after all.
