A seemingly regular walk that a volunteer was taking with a dog at the Michigan Animal Rescue League turned into something special when that dog tugged the volunteer towards an emaciated dog that they had never seen before. The dog was hiding behind a bush with a rope tied around his neck. He clearly needed help and was taken immediately inside.
The dog was starved, with ribs poking out, and suffering from frostbite from the freezing air. He could barely stand on his legs from the cold and hunger.
No one knows how the pit bull mix got there, and the security footage didn’t reveal anyone tying him to the bush he was hiding behind. The volunteers at the shelter think he may have instinctively understood that the shelter was a safe place for him.
The dog has been renamed Winston, and while he still needs some time to recover before he will be up for adoption, he’s now sure to have an exciting life ahead with a loving family that can properly take care of the young dog for many years ahead.
