They all just thought he was a disobedient dog.

Ivor, a Staffordshire puppy, is as cute as can be. However, this cute little guy was abandoned by his different owners, not one, not two, but five separate times.

All of Ivor’s previous owners said that he was a disobedient puppy.

Eventually, Ivor ended up homeless for the sixth time and was turned over to the RSPCA Halifax Huddersfield & Bradford Branch. The RSCPA eventually figured out why Ivor couldn’t follow his owners’ direction. It’s because he was deaf.

Ivor couldn’t hear his owner’s commands, so they eventually just gave up on him and passed him along to be adopted by someone else.

But the RSPCA had the skills to help Ivor get over his disability and find a forever home.

They were able to teach him basic commands by touching his nose to their outstretched hand. They also taught him how to trust again. It wasn’t long before someone was willing to give Ivor a chance and teach him even further.

Ellie Bromilow adopted Ivor in December and decided that she would teach him sign language.

“He’d already learned the sign command for ‘sit’ and ‘come’ from the staff at the RSPCA center, but now he knows lots more like ‘lie down’, ‘stay’, ‘all gone’ and he’s learning ‘roll over,'” Bromilow told Metro.

She says Ivor’s other senses are super sharp.

“We hide lots of treats around the house for him to find,” he says. “It looks like after the most miserable of starts, Ivor has finally hit the jackpot.”

Bromilow thinks that he could even become a sniffer dog.

She created a Facebook page for Ivor where he tells his own story.

“Despite my deafness, you will find I have bags of cheeky personality and I am one smart dog! While other doggies might miss things my eyeballs are trained to observe everything, even as I sleep I peep, I see all, feel vibrations of doors and footsteps and can sniff a piece of chopped ham almost a mile away!” Ivor explains on his page.

Ivor loves shopping for his own treats at the local pet shop using his keen sense of smell.

He also makes a pretty decent guard dog.

“I warn my family of any people near the home, birds, owls, rabbits and those pesky squirrels. In my leisure time I enjoy digging large craters and pulling up ornamental bushes and plants, I also enjoy eating herbs and flower heads,” he says.

“But the highlight of my whole day is getting into bed with my kong full of carrots, spam, dog bisuits and peanut butter – in fact i love this so much that I often request my bed early but the family make me wait until their bedtime.”
