When you think of animals in Australia, what comes to mind? Cuddly koalas? Cute kangaroos? Well, don’t forget to add things like giant snakes, huge alligators, giant snakes that eat huge alligators, and bugs to the list. Lots and lots of bugs.

Australia has incredible beaches and awesome accents, but they also have some of the scariest creatures to ever exist. These 20 photos are proof.

1. Imagine coming home to find this on the side of your house.

2. No, really. There are pythons that eat alligators.

3. These are paralysis ticks. The one on the left hasn’t fed. The one on the right is after feeding.

4. A swarm of locusts could attack at any time.

6. You better do a thorough check before using the bathroom.

7. Seriously. Snakes are everywhere.

8. Oh yeah, did we mention spiders yet?

9. You really don’t want to encounter a stonefish.

10. Because if you do, this is what will happen.

12. This tiny thing is a Irukandji jellyfish. It’s more venomous than a cobra and tarantula combined.

13. Just your average earthworm in Australia.

14. Oh yeah, the pythons eat gigantic bats too.

15. That’s a giant jellyfish, folks.

16. Oh good, a millipede infestation.

17. Their snakes eat buffalo too.
