Thom lives in California, and he fosters rescue dogs until they are healthy enough and ready to find their forever home.

As he explains, most of his fosters have been given away to neighbors of his, so it’s easy for him to let go since he most probably will keep seeing them every day when they go for a walk around the neighborhood.

Last year, he so happened to be fostering a deaf puppy, Moz.

“He was this hairless, scrawny, weird-looking stray,” he told The Dodo. “As soon as he got to the house, he immediately crashed. He just fell asleep for probably a day and a half.”

Indeed, the puppy must have been in shock, and he was just trying to take in all the new things happening in his life.

So, once he woke up, Thom took really good care of him, and he incorporated him into his daily routine.

Moz was given a proper bath and, little by little, he started trusting his foster daddy. In his coming out of his shell also helped the other two fosters that the man was hosting at the time. Soon, Moz turned into a happy dog.

So, they started walking in the neighborhood, and enjoying the sunny days together. One of the houses they passed by during their daily walk was little Lillian’s house.

The 2-year-old girl is just a cute little chatterbox, whose smile is contagious. She lives with her parents and brother, and she’s undoubtedly the star of her street.

Whenever she sees Thom walking his fosters, she never misses them. She goes closer, gives the dogs hugs, and makes funny faces with Thom, who just loves having her around.

Lil has always been excited about Thom’s doggies, but when she saw Moz it was obvious that this time was different.

She was clearly developing a special connection with the deaf puppy, and everyone could tell.

“Our daughter, who is 2 years old, really loves quiet, mellow, gentle creatures,” Lillian’s mother explained.

After a while, Lil had the chance to walk Moz, when she met him on the street.

“She was really excited to get to walk Moz. He’s small, and they’re kinds similar size, similar pace of life.”

Watching how close the dog and the girl had become, Thom decided to let Lillian watch him one day. When he returned, he was really happy to see the girl drawing and the dog lying next to her.

The next step was taking Moz in for a few days, while Thom was away. It went really well, and the family kept sending him photos and videos of the two best friends all the time.

When Thom returned, he knew he wouldn’t be going home with Moz again. And he was really happy about it. In fact, he won’t even miss him because he lives right around the corner, so they will be seeing each other all the time.

Lillian’s family was excited to welcome Moz, the new member, and they made a promise to be his forever family!
