Nature is stunning, but some of the more mind-blowing moments often remain hidden or happen so quickly that they’re hard to capture on camera.

Luckily, these 15 people managed to capture things we’ve never seen before, and will likely never see in person.

1. A scary mouth

Did you know that this scary mouth is from a turtle? Yup, they look sweet and cute. But, don’t dare make the mistake of putting your finger inside their mouths!

2. Platypus bones

The platypus is one of the rarest animals in the world. It is a unique creature, even its bones look out of this world.

3. Male or female?

How do you know when a bird is male or female? In this Northern Cardinal’s case, you will not need to think hard because it is both! It has a condition called bilateral gynandromorphism which means one side of it is male while the other side is female.

4. Potatoes on air

Potatoes are called root crops for a reason, and that’s because they are cultivated underground. But these potatoes are grown while on air so what do we call them now?

5. The tiniest sea star

Star fishes are really beautiful. But to see a really tiny one is extremely rare and amazing. This person just found one of the tiniest stars anyone has ever seen at sea and it is extremely wonderful.

This is Lake Erie Pier frozen after a cold, icy night. Its name suits it well as it looks really eerie in this photo.

7. A fancy worm

Wow, this worm is luxe! Those golden sides of this Antarctic Scale worm are incredible but I would still prefer not to go near it as those pointy things in its mouth are definitely unfriendly.

8. Strange looking birds

They may look like they are unreal, but these birds are actually alive. Those eyes make you want to think otherwise, though.

9. A tree that ages more than a millennium

The fact that this tree is 1,400 years old is not the only amazing thing about it. The marvelous beauty of its golden leaves and makes it stand out and look absolutely out of this world.

10. Glow in the dark shores

Actually, it is not the shore that is glowing in the dark on this beach in the Maldives. It is the plankton that lives in the waves. They are bioluminescent and they look absolutely majestic in the evening.

11. Lightning magnet

The launching of a rocket ship attracted the lightning and cause this captivating scene. It is really amazing how nature works in front of our eyes.

12. Mummified dino

We always see dinosaur bones in museums, but this one is different. It is an actual dinosaur that was mummified! How awesome is that!

This is a lilac-breasted roller and his colors are just so fabulous! That’s like the most complex scheme I’ve seen. I bet salon superstars will have a hard time replicating this amazing shade on their customers.
