Do dogs go shopping? You bet they do!
We’ve seen many of them all over the internet. They get excited once their hooman takes out the leash because there’s a chance they would go to the supermarket or pet store… just as long as it’s not the vet clinic!
But have you seen a dog that went inside a store without their paw-rent with them? One that casually walked into the store as if they were there, and it’s just another day in a dog’s life. That’s a rare occurrence, don’t you think?
That rare moment happened in a Dollar General store in Florida.
When Bradenton Police Department responded to a customer who refused to leave a store, they didn’t expect this one. It was a 135-pound dog who seemed to walk through the aisle calmly.
The store’s staff said he just walked in the store as if he was looking for something. They let him be since he seemed harmless and wasn’t wreaking havoc in their store.
They were also concerned about what might happen to him if they shooed him away. It was best for them to keep him inside until his owner would come looking for him. Unfortunately, no one came, and they had to close the store but couldn’t lock him inside.
The officer called Bentley over so they could leash him.
However, the leash they got was also too small for him. I guess they didn’t expect to be dealing with such a big dog. They called for help from their station while keeping an eye on the dog.
They had enough time to observe this dog more. The officer deduced that he was probably a house dog since he was neat, and his demeanor seemed friendly and not scared of the people around.
A third officer finally came with a bigger leash for Bentley.
He immediately went near and didn’t even fuss about being leashed. You can even see his tail wagging happily. He probably had a feeling that he’d soon be home. Of course, the officers couldn’t help but take a photo with Bentley for this IG-worthy moment!

His owner arrived a few moments after and said he didn’t realize Bentley was missing from their house. It turned out that this big dog crashed their gate and decided to go out for a quick stroll.
The netizens appreciated the efforts of the store’s staff and the police officers.
Whether it’s on YouTube or Facebook and wherever this story was posted, they all said the same thing. It’s heartwarming to witness this random act of kindness from humans.
They applauded the Bradenton Police Department officers for their effort in saving the dog and making sure he was returned home.
But much of the praises were on Dollar General’s staff for making sure Bentley was in a safe place and not sending him away from where he might be hit by a car or stolen by other people.
