For people who love animals, it is unimaginable to have a stray kitty follow you inside and all around your house and still remain indifferent towards her.
This was also the case with Annelyse, who a few weeks ago found a stray cat in her garage.
The young woman has a soft spot for cats and she thought she could take her in for a while and see what happens. She gave her some food and water, which the cat was obviously craving, and she also realized she was quite dirty and with matted hair.
Immediately, they fell in love with each other. The cat started following her all around the house, almost becoming her shadow wherever she went. Annelyse knew she could not let her go, she was too sweet to just ignore.
But the cat also seemed to be enjoying the care she received. The woman washed her and the kitty transformed into a sweet, clean family pet right away. She also felt comfortable around Annelyse, which was obvious when she started rubbing against the woman’s leg.
“I love cats. I can’t really not take one in if it decides to enter my home,” Annelyse told The Dodo.
It was at that point that she knew she was probably keeping Mouse the cat for good.
After about a week full of snuggles and cuddles between them, Annelyse observed that Mouse’s stomach was super big, but not the kind that translates into fat. So she decided to visit a vet to find out if the cat was pregnant.
Indeed, the vet confirmed Mouse’s pregnancy and Annelyse started getting ready for the big day.
Although she had never been present during cat labor before, she did some research and tried to be as prepared as possible for the big day.
“We did some research,” she said, “and we had this little nesting box in the bathroom.”
In fact, according to experts, there is nothing a cat owner really needs to do during their cat’s labor. Cats know what they need to do and how to take care of themselves and their little ones. However, keeping a close eye on them and look for complications is advised.
A few days later, Mouse was ready to give birth and Annelyse and her partner couldn’t be more excited. After some time, she gave birth to four healthy kittens, which her humans named: Sushi, Pluto, Spooky, and Smudge.
Initially, Annelyse had in mind that she would keep the kittens for approximately eight weeks until they were old enough to be given away, but soon she realized she couldn’t let them go that easily.
So, she ended up keeping them for 10-11 weeks. Eventually, she found new loving homes for them and she couldn’t be more happy about it, although she will miss them badly.

Luckily, some of them were given away in pairs and not only that, but some were also adopted by a family who lives very close to Annelyse’s house, so she has the chance to visit them whenever she wants.
Today, Annelyse and her partner are the proud owners of Mouse, who definitely knew what she was doing when she entered their garage that day a few months back.

“She never tried to leave,” Annelyse said. “She was like ‘This is my home, you’re my human. We’re best friends.’ We can’t really give her away.”
