When Lacy found an abandoned pittie that she would later name Big Head, he was lying in a field terrified and all alone.
He looked incredibly happy to see her when she approached him.
“He had a little bit of a tail wag almost like, ‘Oh my gosh, someone is saving me,'” she told The Dodo.
Big Head was incredibly skinny and so weak that he had to move very slowly.
Lacy had to carry this poor dog into her home.
When Big Head finally came inside, he was given a nice warm bed to sleep in.
“To see him lay down and just feel safe was priceless to me,” she said.
From there, Big Head quickly evolved into a snuggle bug.
He was constantly seeking affection and nuzzling his head into Lacy asking for pets. He would snuggle up alongside her and her husband whenever he got the chance.
It didn’t take long for Big Head to fall in love with Lacy and vice versa.
“It’s hard to foster fail but I realized that he has 100 percent found his forever home,” Lacy said. “I told my husband we were keeping him and he just burst into tears.”
Now that Big Head was an official family member, it was time to introduce him to the rest of the family.
Lacy and her husband have 11 rescue dogs living in their home.
“We introduced Big Head one at a time. He was just so gentle with all of them. He loves to snuggle with anything. He loves his family,” Lisa said.
But there was one more person in the family that Big Head hadn’t met.
Lacy knew that it would take a little bit more effort to win this family over.
It was their chonky cat Harvey that they rescued while doing volunteer work during Hurricane Harvey.
“Initially Harvey wasn’t sure about Big Head,” Lacy said.
Harvey was pretty standoffish at first but slowly started to initiate interaction with the pittie and nudge closer to him.
“One day when I walked into the kitchen I noticed that they were laying there and that their tails were touching,” Lacy said. “Then at one point, Harvey was up on this little table and Big Head just kept trying to play with him.”
And that was the start of their relationship. Soon you’d find the two snuggling up together regularly.
“Harvey is the sweetest boy. And this sweet dog now has not only experienced love from people but love from Harvey,” Lacy wrote on Harvey’s Facebook page.
Now they are a big happy family of 12 dogs, one cat, and some humans.
“It brings joy to me just to know that are happy and at peace and safe together in a forever home,” Lacy said.
