One of the worst things about traveling is trying to fit all your stuff into a single bag – especially when you struggle with packing! As much as you wish, eight pairs of shoes just aren’t reasonable to take on a two-day trip!
The biggest thing when packing a bag is to make sure it’s under the airline’s weight limit.
Most airlines do 50 lbs and if you’ve ever had to do the last-minute shuffle of moving things around to different bags to make sure none of them are overweight, you know exactly what we are talking about!
Occasionally, something unintentional will end up in your bag, just like one woman recently found out!
A couple from Texas was heading out of town for the weekend. With Vegas on their mind, they were on their way to party it up for a weekend when they realized that their carefully packed bags were overweight! Confused, they started looking through their things to see what they could shift around.
Confused, they opened their bag only to find something TOTALLY unexpected!
“You know it’s going to be an epic trip to Vegas when you get to the airport to check your bags, 6lbs overweight, and out pops a chihuahua from your boot,”
Their dog, Icky, had crept into their bag right before they left and had tried to come along with the couple! The small chihuahua had climbed inside one of the cowboy boots they brought along and was a stowaway that was luckily discovered when the weight was over.
A Southwest Airlines employee made the discovery and was willing to help out.
The 6-pounds that the suitcase was overweight was pretty much exactly what Icky weighed, so the only thing that needed to happen now was finding a way to get Icky home.
Cathy, the woman who found Icky, and Jared, his owner, came to a solution.
Cathy offered to watch Icky while they were gone and while Jared was willing to let the sleepover happen, they decided to call someone. In the meantime, Cathy was going to look after Icky while the couple caught their flight until Jared’s Uncle came to take him home.
“They have got a heck of an employee in Cathy. She went above and beyond, You know, they could have turned us in saying we were trying to smuggle a dog to Vegas or something, and (they) never acted like that. They were extremely gracious.” – KBTV
Some people online think that they intentionally tried to hide Icky in their luggage, but Kristi, Icky’s mom, clarified that wasn’t what happened at all.
“We were just looking for a little romantic getaway, a little escape,” Kristi told the Washington Post. “We’ve got a really busy house. We’ve got two children, three dogs, a rabbit, a lot of fish.”
Apparently, Icky likes to hide in clothes, and the entire drive to the airport he didn’t make a single noise!
