The cases of homeless dogs keep on rising every day and it looks like there is nothing or nobody who could stop it anytime soon.
Especially during these trying times where everyone seems to be leaning against the wall because of the pandemic.
The reality of animal homelessness.
There are quite a number of factors when we talk about the reason behind it. Some pet owners are forced to give up on their animals because of financial incapability to support them. While some are just too heartless to dump their furry companions.
Sadly, there are also cases where new pups become homeless for the reason being their mom is also homeless.
This story probably will likely make your eyebrows raise and your head steam.
In New South Wales, Australia, a cold-hearted woman dumped a dog at a shelter in the middle of the night.
But before leaving, she even had the guts to take a selfie while holding up her middle finger and eventually shared the photo online.
Regardless of the reason for her barbaric actions, what she did was absolutely wicked. And when you think about her referring to the poor dog with that middle finger, it only makes things tenfolds uglier than what it looks like in the picture.
To no one’s surprise, the photo went viral alongside triggered emotions.
Whether you own a dog or not, the image will surely anger you.
On Reddit, one user named ‘thecharliezard‘ shared the photo and received collective views from other Reddit users.
Reddit user ‘thecharliezard’ wrote, “The pound posted these photos a couple hours ago to try to find the original owner if it’s not this lady. Already several people have offered to adopt this dog if the owner isn’t found, so he is safe!”
Animal shelters shouldn’t be a scapegoat for an irresponsible dog owner.
The woman was also known to have dumped the dog in one of the shelter’s overnight cages.
The Reddit user wrote an update regarding the dog:
“UPDATE: The real owner has made contact with the pound! He’d left his dog with his sister while he was out of town. No word if she was the woman in the picture.”
Soon after, a text message from the dog owner confirmed that the lady is indeed his sister. But still, the reason behind the woman’s actions wasn’t specified.
Unfortunately, laws protecting animals’ rights still have a lot to improve.
Reddit user k1k11983 wrote,
“This is in Australia and it’s not considered theft. Under the Companion Animals Act, it’s illegal to not surrender a found animal. You’re given 72 hours to take to the pound. So many people keep found pets and they don’t get caught until years later, all they get is a fine. It’s not classified as theft unless they took it from the owners residence.”
Though a lot of people wanted to hold the woman responsible for her cruel actions, a Reddit user diverted all the hate and recognized the shelter, and commended them.
Reddit user GammaAlanna wrote, “This is my local shelter and it’s really bizarre to see it here on Reddit. I’ll just add that all the workers and volunteers there are so wonderful and it is a no kill shelter.”
No animals deserve to be treated this way, let alone in such a way like this.
