A woman in South Alloa, Scotland was relaxing and looking out her front window one morning. But then, she saw something strange: a man pulled up in front of her husband’s van, put something into the van, and drove away. Confused, the woman went outside to investigate.
When she got outside, she saw that the man had left a dog in the van.
The dog was curled up in the front seat, not making a sound. He was skinny but otherwise seemed to be in good health. The woman called the Scottish SPCA, who sent out an inspector to investigate.
The inspector quickly came out and interviewed the woman about what had happened. Then, she took the pup back with her to the SPCA, where they gave him a new name: Kenny.
“The male dog has a great temperament, however he was slightly lean. He is currently in the care of our centre in Lanarkshire where he has been named Kenny,” SPCA Inspector Louise Seddon said in a press release.
The SPCA inspectors are now working hard to find the man who left Kenny in a stranger’s car. In Scotland, abandoning an animal is a crime under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006. The punishment for this is a ban on owning animals for a fixed period or for life.
“We are reviewing CCTV footage from the area. We’re urging anyone who recognises Kenny to get in touch with any information,” Seddon said.
While it’s unclear why the man chose to abandon his dog, one thing is for sure: Kenny is now in very good hands. The SPCA will look after him and work hard to find him the right forever home, one where he’ll get the love and care that he deserves.
