Mittsie, an 11-year-old senior beagle, had her life completely uprooted when her owner decided to do the unimaginable. Thanks to some amazing shelter staff and a viral Facebook post, Mittsie was given a second chance to have the loving family she always deserved.
After living with her owner for 11 years, Mittsie was willingly surrendered at a local Georgia shelter. Her owner left the staff horrible instructions on what to do with Mittsie now that she had no home or family – and you might be absolutely shocked at the cruelty of this pet owner.
Mittsie’s owner told the shelter staff to euthanize Mittsie, allegedly because the owner was “sick” of caring for her dog.
Mittsie, at 11 years old, was in good health and a happy-go-lucky pup, not suffering from any kind of life-threatening diseases. However, Mittsie’s owner had decided that because she did not wish to take care of her dog anymore that she could request to put Mittsie down. Horrified by this woman’s complete lack of love for her dog, the shelter staff accepted Mittsie with open arms and refused to put her down.
After being shared on the Angels Amongst Us Facebook page, Mittsie’s story quickly went viral, drawing attention from people all over the world.
Donations and adoption requests flooded the rescue center with people clamoring to give Mittsie the loving home she deserved. Thanks to all of the internet attention, Mittsie’s story was shared thousands of times across the web, leading Mittsie right to her new home. In an updated post, Angels Among Us said this:
“Mittsie, the senior beagle, has left the shelter thanks to all those who donated and shared. We can’t thank you enough! We are happy to announce that she is heartworm negative! She is so grateful as are we for so many reasons this morning. She will never have an owner dump her again!”
Thankfully, Mittsie found a new loving family who would never think of giving her up. Mittsie can live out her life in peace, knowing she has a loving, stable home.
