The important thing to remember is that animals with special needs can still live high-quality lives. There are many dogs with disabilities that do just fine, and they are just as loving and happy as any other dog.
Here’s the thing: disabled pets should not be abandoned. Instead, they should be showered with love and attention.
Disabled dogs are just as precious.
Aster Rose’s owners immediately rushed her to the veterinarian after learning that she was blind and deaf. They instructed the vet to put her down.
Fortunately, the doctor refused. He was aware of the excellent life a blind and deaf dog can still enjoy despite their disabilities.
Thus, the vet searched for a shelter where the puppy and her sister might be taken in, and they successfully found one.
He didn’t give up on Aster.
And when Krysten saw Aster’s picture, she quickly submitted an adoption application. Thankfully, everything came together so that she could bring Aster home.
It appears that Krysten has experience taking care of dogs with special needs. Her dog, Little Buddy, is also blind and deaf.
And she knew that they can still live the best lives.
“I’ve had Little Buddy for over three years now. He was listed as blind and deaf,” she fondly said. “We don’t really know much about his first 10 months of life. His owner took him to a rescue and said, ‘my girlfriend doesn’t like my dog [and] says I can’t keep this dog anymore.”
It’s heartbreaking how Little Buddy’s previous owners were so quick to abandon him. But at least that led him to Krysten.
She gave him the best care.
Little Buddy is such a lovely Australian shepherd. With Krysten’s tender care, he is presently in excellent health and living the finest life.
He continued to lead such a vibrant life despite being blind. He enjoys exploring new places and is constantly ready for some playtime.
A couple of cats live with him.
His cat buddies are Teddy and Goose. Krysten opted to foster them because they had been abandoned.
However, she was taken aback by Little Buddy’s delight in their company so she ended up adopting them for good.
It was the perfect decision.
“When I adopted Aster, I knew that Teddy would be fine with her, but I kinda thought it would be this dynamic where they just coexist,” she recalled. “And then when she was little, he would approach her to snuggle.”
Aster started cuddling with Teddy for an unknown reason, and the two have become inseparable. And to go along with that, Goose also just so happened to form such a close bond with Little Buddy.
But it was Little Buddy and Aster who became the best of friends.
“Ultimately, Aster and Little Buddy have the most remarkable bond in this loving family,” Krysten wrote in the caption.
It’s not always easy to find the right home for a disabled pet, but we are glad Aster and Little Buddy found their way to Krysten’s loving home.
