Living in the country comes with some definite perks. The air is fresh and clean and the stars exceptionally bright. But perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of country living is seeing a variety of wild animals. For those who reside in the city, coming across something like a baby deer is a rarity.
Friendlier than most people think
When it comes to deer, these animals are gorgeous. Now, it’s true that bucks, and especially mothers, are highly protective over their young. That’s why wild animal experts tell people to never approach them. But baby deer are a lot like children…they’re friendly and curious.
A beautiful afternoon
For one small girl, what started as a gorgeous day turned into something she’ll never forget. Even better, one of her parents captured the chance encounter. Thankfully, they shared it online, which has now been viewed more than four million times.
No fear
In this video, you see a little girl who’s barely able to walk. After spotting a baby deer, she moves toward it. She has zero fear as she makes her way closer to this amazing creature. And it just stands there looking at her.
A better view
Realizing this was a special moment, the parent filming zoomed in. Standing just a few feet apart, the girl and deer look at each other. It’s so precious, this could easily be the cover of a popular magazine.
In awe
For what seems like an eternity, neither the child nor the baby deer moves. They’re instantly smitten. But for this child, she’s not close enough quite yet. So, she inches forward.
The unexpected
This girl’s parent thought for sure the deer would run away. But that’s not what happened. In an unusual display, the animal put its head down and then bobbed it up without moving away. It was as though this deer wanted to play.
Standing her ground
For a lot of small children, the deer’s actions would’ve frightened them. But not this girl. She was even more intrigued. Standing perfectly still, something else happened that the parent didn’t anticipate. The deer came right up to the child.
It’s so soft
Satisfied that this child wasn’t there to cause any harm, the baby deer started to graze. Then without hesitation, this girl walked over to pet the animal. Even with her tiny hand on its back. The deer doesn’t flinch.
Seeking approval
After petting the deer, the little girl turned to look at her parent as if asking, “Is this okay?” Without speaking a word, she turned her focus back on this incredible animal. It’s possible the deer felt her confidence and calm demeanor, which made it feel comfortable with her near.
A special bond
This precious girl wasn’t done yet. After getting just a little bit closer, she again began to touch the deer. The entire time she’s doing this, the animal continues to graze. This went on for several minutes. There they were, standing side by side without a care in the world.
Picture perfect
Considering the video ended with the girl touching the deer, we don’t know how long they stayed together. But one thing’s for sure. This child has something special. Not only did she get close to a wild animal but they became fast friends.
