Wild boars may look scary, but they are not as dangerous as one might think. Yes, they can be aggressive if they are wounded or if they feel threatened, but generally, they are friendly- especially female boars.

And, although having them at home as pets comes with several responsibilities that cannot be ignored, the bond that can be developed between a human and a wild boar is really sweet and strong.

Sadly, in many countries, wild boards are considered pests and cannot move around freely. This is why wild boar owners should be very careful and keep them restricted within the home and yard area to keep them safe.

One of the countries that are not wild-boar-friendly is Sri Lanka. And that’s where this story unfolds.

A few months ago, Dora was presented with a box that contained a super tiny living thing. It was the size of an iPhone, and it weighed only two pounds.

At that time, it didn’t cross her mind that it could be a wild boar. Still, it was.

“Our gardener showed up to our house with something very tiny in a box. I would never have guessed that it was a wild boar,” owner Dora said.

The baby boar was only a couple of hours old and it was really small and cute. They called her Yezhu, and they introduced her to the canine members of the family.

One of the dogs seemed to have an instant connection with her. Biu Biu approached her, and Yezhu immediately fell in love with him. She tried to get in his mouth, and she followed him everywhere.

Dora believes that she missed her mother so much that she found in Biu Biu the father figure she didn’t have the chance to meet.

Although Dora tried to find the boar’s mother, she had no luck with that, and it seemed that there was no other option than to take the boar home, since there are no sanctuaries in Sri Lanka that would take in a wild boar.

As time went by, Biu Biu and Yezhu became inseparable. They went everywhere together, they ate from the same bowl, they swam together. They never left each other’s side.

A year later, and although Yezhu is now more than 62 pounds, she still looks up to her stepdad. She still uses him as a pillow when she wants to hang out right next to him, she plays with him, and she just keeps being his little girl.

“Biu Biu showed Yezhu how to become part of the pack,” Dora said.

Indeed, now the wild boar gets along with all the dogs that live in the house, and this is amazing.

As their owner explains, Yezhu is now in her teenage phase, but she still looks up to Biu Biu. They are family now.

It is so good to know that these animals will spend the rest of their lives together.
