With the coronavirus pandemic still at large, many of us have had to adapt to doing our jobs from the comfort of our own homes.
Now, for those who work in an office, you may face less of a challenge than those with more practical jobs. Take news reporters, for example.
We all remember the hilarious video of Professor Robert Kelly’s live BBC News interview, where he was interrupted by not one but two of his children.
But now a new video has surfaced that might possibly be even more adorable.
Jeff Lyons is a weatherman who works for 14 News in the U.S. When coronavirus struck the country, his home became his studio so that he could continue to do the weather reports from home. A room in his house was fitted with a green screen and all of the other technical things that go into making a news show.
Not only was Jeff the presenter, but he was now also the cameraman, sound guy, and the director! Someone give the man a medal.
But when you work from home, things aren’t always smooth running, as Jeff was about to find out.
When presenting a show one morning, Jeff’s needy cat Betty sneaked into the room and, like every cat out there, was determined to be a part of the action.
Adorably, Jeff ended up holding the needy kitty in his arms whilst he finished the weather report.
Just look at that face of contentment!
The video went viral with thousands of views and shares, and Jeff was inspired to bring Betty along for more of his shows. She was certainly very interested in the set-up.
Betty is now Jeff’s co-presenter, though she’s an independent little lady and doesn’t always do as she’s told. Sharing one of their shows onto Facebook, Jeff said:
“Co-Weathering with Betty. Two hams on the screen and a little ham on my fingers made it work…at least for awhile. Why do I get the feeling I’m performing tricks for the cat instead of the other way around?”
In another picture, Jeff hilariously commented:
“W.C Fields famously said: ‘Never work with kids and animals’. I should heed that advice, but I think I’ve been replaced. Maybe the better quote is ‘Claim victory and depart the field'”
It seems that now Betty is being invited to be a part of the show, she’s not always too keen anymore. Isn’t that just always the way with cats?
Since the video went viral, Betty has been co-hosting with Jeff for many of their weather reports. But how is Betty handling being a viral sensation? Jeff said:
“Even with all of your kind comments, Betty doesn’t seem to be handling her new-found fame very well ! Of course, she’s 10 years old, so can be a little crabby when I put her out of her comfort zone…but then again, aren’t we all?”
Despite this, Jeff has since managed to film a Q&A with Betty so that her adoring fans can have the chance to get to know her better. What a cooperative little kitty!
This video has certainly helped to raise our spirits during lockdown, and we hope that Jeff and Betty continue to co-host in purr-fect harmony.
