The birth of a new child is one of the most exciting and incredible experiences in life. Documenting the birth is common for many couples; however, most couples are ‘giving birth’ to real human babies.
Lucy Schultz, an avid cat lover and photographer, has fostered kittens her entire life but never had one for her own. So, when she finally adopted one — she decided to organize a photo shoot.
Lucy and her partner of three years, Steven, recently adopted a 5-month-old orange and white kitty after months of searching the ‘perfect cat.’ To celebrate his arrival into their home, a photo shoot seemed appropriate; however, it definitely isn’t like any pet photo shoot we’ve ever seen before.
After posting the pictures, the internet was thoroughly taken aback by Lucy’s approach. Instead of posing with her new cat on her lap, Lucy took it to a whole new level and mimicked birthing photos.
“On 1/10/18 we welcome our first baby kitten, a neutered male DLH,” Lucy commented the images. “He is 22″ long and weighed 6 pounds 7 oz. He is already eating solid food. Name to be announced. We are so in love,” she posted on Facebook.
Brace yourselves — things get a little…weird.
Judging by the photo above, if you didn’t know what’s coming, you’d be in for a real head-scratcher.
Oh, look — I think we see a head!
Somehow the cat seems totally fine with this.
Just one final push here.
It’s a beautiful, healthy baby boy at 6 lbs and 7 oz.
Typical new dad — a look of complete shock.
That adoring look of mother to child — it’s an instant bond and connection.
Like most newborns, this orange and white fur baby spends most of its time sleeping.
But when he’s wide-eyed, those gorgeous golden eyes are just too cute for words.
It’s such an emotional moment bringing your first child into the world.
I mean…just look at that face.
They’ve gone this far already, so, of course, some breastfeeding shots had to be incorporated.
Oh boy.
Time for some daddy and son bonding time.
Uh-oh…looks like baby had an accident.
It must be a big, stinky mess.
Mom can’t stay away from her new fur baby for long.
There’s nothing like a mother’s love.
One last shot of the swaddled baby. How sweet.
As you could imagine — the internet had a lot to say about this interesting and slightly awkward photoshoot. Some people thought it was just plain bizarre.
While other people thought their idea was creative — some even wish they had thought of it first.
Weird? Brilliant? Funny? What do you think of this couple’s ‘big announcement’? Check out the full Facebook post below.
