Sara and Sydney Weiss feared the worst when their beloved dog Tiki got terribly sick. The eight-year-old black Labrador Retriever started vomiting, had diarrhea, and completely lost her appetite. The sisters took Tiki to her veterinarian, Dr. Ibrahim. He gave her a prescription, but the medicine didn’t help. Unsure what was wrong with the pup, Dr. Ibrahim took an x-ray.

On the x-ray, Dr. Ibrahim saw a large mass in Tiki’s stomach.

“I see this huge thing, and I’m not quite sure if it’s a foreign body or if there’s something going on,” Dr. Ibrahim told Inside Edition.

Dr. Ibrahim needed to do surgery to see what the mass was. He gently told Sara and Sydney to be prepared for the worst, since a mass that size was often cancerous.

The girls took their beloved pup in for surgery, hoping everything would go well. The surgical team began the procedure. When they saw what the mass actually was, they were completely shocked.

The surgical team found eight pairs of underwear in Tiki’s stomach. They also discovered 62 hair ties, four rubber bands, and a band-aid.

“It was incredibly shocking,” vet tech Emily Cottle told Inside Edition. Then, she jokingly added, “Once I started looking at them, I knew the brands.”

Sara and Sydney hadn’t realized so much of their underwear was missing. The sisters also had no idea that Tiki had such eclectic taste in snacks—the worst thing she’d eaten before was one Nerf dart.

The surgery went well, and Tiki quickly recovered. Soon, she had her appetite and her energy back, and she began running around the backyard with Sara and Sydney.

We’re sure Sara and Sydney have now gone through the house and made sure everything edible is out of Tiki’s reach. Hopefully, Tiki has learned her lesson and will stick to Kibble and dog treats from now on!
