Meet Jay Hardesty: a UPS driver who loves dogs more than anything in the world!
Thirty-year-old Hardesty lives and works in New Orleans. During his first few years working as a driver, his route took him through a neighborhood that was mostly filled with families. While there were some dogs there, he found that the pups often weren’t friendly.
In 2017, he got a new route that took him through a younger neighborhood. There were more dogs on this route, and all the pups were very friendly!
Hardesty decided to share photos of the pups he met on his Instagram page. Hardesty quickly started gaining followers—everyone loved seeing the joyful photos of Hardesty and the pups on his route.
In March 2019, a well-known author shared a link to Hardesty’s Instagram page. After that, the page completely blew up! Hardesty said that he gained about 10,000 followers in 48 hours. Now, he has over 50,000 followers who love his photos of dogs and his pictures of New Orleans.

It’s easy to see why Hardesty’s photos are so popular. Hardesty has the biggest smile on in every one of his photos, and his joy is contagious!
While Hardesty loves every dog on his route, there are some that have won a special place in his heart.
This includes Oy and Belle, a pair of Corgi siblings. One of the Corgis always ran out to play with Hardesty, but the other was a bit shyer at first. Hardesty was patient with the dogs, and soon, they were both running out to greet him!
Hardesty decided that he’s only going to post photos of dogs on Fridays, and now, he has a waiting list of dogs who want to be featured. The pups’ owners love seeing the pictures of their dogs with Hardesty.
“They love the fact that their dog loves me and I love them,” he said.
Hardesty doesn’t have a dog of his own, so getting to play with all these dogs is a treat for him. Seeing these dogs is always a highlight of his day.
Hardesty also uses his Instagram page to share his photos of buildings throughout New Orleans. These colorful photos are all beautiful.
