UPS Driver Jason Harcrow was doing his usual rounds in Hughson, California when he saw a shocking sight. The car in front of him stopped and threw a tiny Cairns Terrier into the middle of the road.

The confused and scared puppy ran through the road, getting dangerously close to the cars passing by. Harcrow knew he had to help the dog, so he pulled over and approached the pup.

The three-month-old puppy ran underneath Harcrow’s truck, terrified of all the noise and cars around him. Harcrow crouched down and tried to get the puppy to come towards him.

“It was just a busy road so I wanted to make sure it didn’t go out there again,” Harcrow told KCRA News. “It was just being a puppy.”

The puppy was too nervous to come to Harcrow, so Harcrow decided to go to him. He crawled underneath the truck. The puppy started to run away, but Harcrow quickly grabbed him and brought him into his truck.

Harcrow calmed the puppy down and then took him over to the Hughson Police Station. They took the puppy over to Stanislaus County Animal Shelter, and the shelter named him Biscuit.

The shelter veterinarian looked Biscuit over and gave him a clean bill of health—thankfully, he hadn’t been harmed during his ordeal. The puppy was energetic and cute, barking up a storm and jumping up and down as the shelter worked played with him.

Harcrow told reporters that he was thrilled the puppy was okay, and he said he would have considered adopting him himself if he didn’t already have a dog at home.

The shelter put Biscuit up for adoption the day after he arrived.

The story had attracted a lot of media attention, and because of that, Stanislaus County Animal Shelter received tons of applications. They carefully went through them until they found the perfect home for little Biscuit. Then, they said goodbye to the cute pup and he headed off to his forever home.
