Unfortunately, empathy towards animals isn’t something that everyone has. A dog is willing to follow you into any situation and love you no matter what. That still doesn’t stop some people from treating their own pets poorly.
One puppy was given up and recommended for euthanization.
Not too long ago, a puppy was brought to a shelter and dropped off. The poor little creature was coldly handed over without a second thought. Even worse, the family told the vet that they would prefer if they put the dog down! Not only did they abandon the dog, they tried to end its life.
Thankfully, fate had something else planned for the pup.
The shelter named the scrawny dog Mouse, a perfect representation of the little gangly creature in front of them. Despite the previous owners’ requests for the shelter to euthanize Mouse, the vet decided against it. Calling Sidewalk Specials instead, they took her in.
When Mouse was taken to the shelter without fear of being euthanized, she made her first friend ever.
The unhealthy pup started to noticeably change when she had people who cared about her! The trembling, shaking dog that looked like a stray transformed into a confident, lively friend! When Mouse got to the new shelter, she even made a new friend!
Since Mouse had never had another friend before, she instantly bonded with him.
Mouse and the fluffy black dog do EVERYTHING together now! When you have experienced as much trauma as Mouse has, having a bigger and more confident friend helps the recovery process.
The two go on adventures all the time and love it.
There are few things better to a dog than going on an adventure, especially with friends. Mouse and her fluffy friend travel all around, running errands or just having fun. For a dog, it doesn’t matter as much where you go as long as you are having fun doing it!
Mouse even got adopted!
The ultimate success story for a shelter is getting a dog adopted into a loving home. Thankfully, Mouse is one of those success stories! Mouse got adopted into a family where she now has a big sister, Wombat! Even looking at the goofy dog gives you clues as to how she got her name.
Now that she is in a loving home and family, she has all the tools to flourish.
When you put a dog in an abusive and neglecting home, you get what Mouse used to be – a scrawny, malnourished, and sorry sight. When you take that same dog and place her in a loving and caring home with stability and affection, you get a wonderful dog and a lifelong friend!
People all across the world are LOVING Mouse’s transition into the dog she was always meant to be.
