There’s nothing like seeing an old friend after being apart for a long while.
That goes double for family members. And that doesn’t only apply to humans.
Family reunions are totally a thing with animals too.
Some might doubt that they have the ability to remember family.
Or experience the emotions of missing their family members and being happy to see them again.
But if you see the reunion between these two horses, you might think twice.
Koda and Harley are brothers.
According to TikToker @Wranglerbum, the two horse siblings had been separated and spent years apart.
The reunion of these two horses was caught on video and ended up going viral.
“Welcome home Koda!” the video states.
It starts with Harley eagerly running up to the fence as Koda approaches.
He then puts his snout over the fence trying to get as close to his brother as he can.
Koda slowly walks up to him and the two horses sniff each other a bit.
They touch foreheads together as if they are having an emotional greeting. It’s almost as if they are showing a sense of relief for finally seeing each other again.
They stay cuddled for a little bit to savor the moment.
Koda gets a little uneasy as he sees another horse approaching.
“It’s OK. It’s alright. Everybody just wants to say hi,” someone off camera cane be heard telling the horse.
That’s when Harley and Koda go back to nuzzling.
Koda then brings his head over the fence so he can get a little bit closer to Harley.
The horses stand cheek-to-cheek with their heads over the sides of the fence.
This will be the last time these two ever have to be apart again. That’s because Koda is moving in and gets to stay with his brother forever!
The video of Harley and Koda’s reunion was liked more than 43,900 times on TikTok.
“Awwww, absolutely beautiful! So blessed to have each other again. Thank you for sharing. Very amazing!” commented one TikToker.
“And people say animals don’t love! Looks like a loving bond to me,” said another.
Bell Mountain Ranch Equestrian Center argues that horses absolutely do show affection to other horses and humans.
Some of the ways they do this are by coming to you, leaning on you, and nuzzling.
I Love Horses says that herds of horses tend to have a loving bond.
“Some will argue that this is pure instinct and not love. Others will say that once you establish yourself as part of the herd, you will be included in that herd’s love bond,” I Love Horses writes.
Wranglerbum’s TikTok fans were very convinced that Koda and Harley shared this herd love.
“Gorgeous. Now I understand something about horses,” one commented.
“Beautiful unconditional love,” said another.
