“But we had to at least try,” they said, committed to his recovery.
Amanda Rhea from Fabulous Felines NWA recalls the day Stuart Little was brought to her.
“Stuart Little was brought to me in August with his mom plus six litter mates, rescued from outdoors by a Springdale resident (Scott Hollandsworth).
The mom was malnourished and semi-feral, and the kittens were really struggling, Stuart Little worst of all,” she shared.
This was the beginning of Stuart’s challenging yet inspiring journey.
Stuart’s turnaround was remarkable.
In less than a week, he not only regained his fur on his face and head but also doubled his tiny weight.
The mother cat, unable to nurse and reluctant to eat, was spayed and relocated for her safety.
Meanwhile, the kittens were bottle-fed until a surrogate mother was found.
Stuart, in particular, benefited from the nurturing care of a foster mom surrogate named Bessie, who played a crucial role in his early development.
At six weeks old, Stuart was still catching up in growth.
His body was small, but his head and those adorable big ears were a sign of the healthy kitten he was becoming.
Each day brought new growth and strength to this little fighter.
By the time he was eight weeks old, a month after his rescue, Stuart had grown noticeably.
He was now a bit bigger than a chapstick, a significant milestone considering his fragile beginnings.
