Are you a cat person or a dog person? Whatever category you might belong to, there might be a dog breed that is equally liked by cat- and dog-lovers alike, the chihuahua. They are dogs, yes, but they are so small and have pointy ears that they resemble cats. Besides, there have been many chihuahua owners claiming that their pups act like cats.
“In the last month we have noticed that Gracie rubs up against us and all of our other animals just like the cat does! Its quite cute, and not annoying, but I’ve never had another dog act like a cat quite this much!” wrote someone in a chihuahua forum.
So, obviously chihuahuas are cute, but why don’t some people like them?
That’s probably because they “have a reputation for snapping at strangers or small children who may be threatening to their diminutive size.” So, basically, they kind of feel inferior due to their size and tend to get defensive and aggressive for no obvious reason more frequently than other breeds. But this is understandable if we keep in mind that they are the smallest dogs in the world.
Yet, they’re still adorable and bring joy to their owners just like any other family animal would do.
Especially when they are treated with respect and are given proper attention, they are wonderful companions and they are loyal to their owners.
Now, let’s focus on their cuteness. It goes without saying that all dogs are cute, especially when they give you the puppy eye look to which very few can resist. But Chihuahuas even have an advantage when it comes to puppy eyes: they have large eyes! And this makes the look even more irresistible!
In the video below, someone recorded a clip of a chihuahua appearing from the inside of a snuggle sack. First, it is hesitant towards the outside world and it looks like it wants to stay in the comfort and safety of the fluffy cask. Then, slowly, it starts sticking its head out of the sack, ready to take in what’s going on around. But- guess what! The little sweetheart is not alone in the snuggle sack. Soon, another small head appears- it’s a second chihuahua, just as cute as the first one!
Although the second chihuahua doesn’t get out immediately, when it does it seems more confident than its fellow pup. It gets out of the sack ready to explore the big world. It’s as if it’s thinking “Small dog vs Big world challenge accepted! Bring it on!”
When it finally gets out, it sits down facing its friend who is still in the sack, not ready for the adventure. Maybe it’s a way of telling the hesitant friend that now it’s their time to shine and face the challenges of the world. Eventually, everyone does.
