Some things in nature are tough to explain! Humans have a funny tendency to place their own understanding of things over Mother Nature and the result is sometimes quite hilarious. Take Teddy Bears, for example. Bears are ferocious and intelligent animals – and yet humans love to stuff them and give them to kids!
One family had an encounter at a zoo that sparked some controversy online.
Captured on video, one family experienced something that can be described as “heartwarming” or “scary” depending on your perspective! Brittany Osborne decided that she was going to visit the Potowatomi Zoo in South Bend Indiana. Taking along her pregnant cousin, Natasha Handshoe, the duo was ready for a fun day looking at animals.
Natasha hadn’t been to the zoo in years but had a strange experience.
The first time that Natasha had gone to the zoo, she wanted to see one of her favorite exhibits, the tigers. Unfortunately, they were all napping in the back and she wasn’t able to see them. This time around, she was determined to get a look at the world’s largest big cats!
Walking up to the display glass, Natasha had a deep connection with one of the tigers.
When she walked up to the thick glass, Brittany, her cousin, started filming the event.
“I began filming her because I thought it would be entertaining. Then we all realized that the tiger was very interested in her baby bump,” Osborne told CBS4
While Natasha was standing near the glass, the tiger seemed to notice her AND her baby bump!
When the women realized the tiger knew she was pregnant, they were floored.
Tigers are incredibly intelligent and it is totally possible that it knew Natasha was pregnant, espeically as she had a cute little baby bump showing. As this is her first child, the whole situation was even more magical.
“I do believe the tiger knew I was pregnant just by the way it was acting,” Handshoe told CBS4.
In the video, you can clearly see the tiger responding to Natasha.
Walking up to the glass and sniffing around, the tiger pawed and pressed itself against the glass. The tiger, a female, seemed to want to get as close as possible to the pregnant woman! The video is incredible to watch and really does seem to be a rare moment of beautiful connection between humans and nature.
The “moment” has two loud opinions about it, however.
The first group of people watch the video and are immediately astounded by the beauty and connection. Watching it, it’s hard for them to deny the fact that the tiger seems to know the woman is pregnant! The second group has a different take.
Other commenters see this video and think something else entirely!
Claiming that things would be different if there was no glass, the opposing view says that this tiger wasn’t “beautifully connecting”, it was looking for a snack! One commenter even said, “That tiger wants 2 snacks for the price of one, not snuggles lol”.
