Audrie Spake’s father João has been battling a number of health issues. Conditions which have, unfortunately, left him confined to bed for many months now.
He has many doctors who are doing their best to help treat him.
These doctors are at it, making sure they bring João back to good health.
To make his days much brighter, João has been receiving a visitor to help bring light and healing into his heart.
The visitor’s name is Paçoca.
Paçoca is a therapy horse. One who works with volunteers from the nonprofit Coletivo Inclusão.
They are a group on a mission dedicated to people with special needs. Reaching out to those who need help makes a huge difference.
Early in August, Audrie posted a sweet video showing the moment Paçoca arrived just to visit to her father. And it was as if the horse knew what sort of interaction João needed most.
The therapy horse nestled against the man’s chest in a very gentle manner, offering his comfort and love.
“He was like that with my father the whole time,” Spake wrote. “It was beautiful!”
Talk about a visit that João won’t be forgetting for the rest of his life. And perhaps, in the future, they’ll become good friends too.
Medical science these days are recognizing the healing benefits of therapy animals on patients’ health and well-being.
Sometimes, a visit from an animal can also work to bring healing to our souls.
“Animal-assisted therapy can significantly reduce pain, anxiety, depression and fatigue in people with a range of health problems,” the Mayo Clinic reports. “And it’s not only people with health problems who reap the benefits. Family members and friends who sit in on animal visits say they feel better, too.”
And João’s daughter agrees, saying this about Paçoca’s visit: “It was an inexplicable moment.”
Animals won’t judge you. Regardless of where you’re from, who you are or what you do in life, they will give all their love to us.
All they ask in return is to be treated well.

It truly is. The man is moved to tears with Paçoca’s gesture.
So imagine yourself in an unfortunate situation for awhile. If a horse, or even a dog for that matter, were to visit you and the animal puts its head on your chest, would you cry too?
You probably would.
It goes both ways then. When our animal friends are sick, or if they need help, they need us to make the effort for them.
They do have emotion, understanding that we’re there for them.
Paçoca the therapy horse has nothing but love in his eyes. João wasn’t expecting it but now he knows that animals do have huge hearts full of love.
Let’s hope this horse can bring more light to people suffering from any condition.
