You have to respect anyone who risks their life to save their dogs. People that awesome deserve to be celebrated. Hailey Morinico of California is just that great.
Recently, security footage caught the teen pushing a bear off a wall to save her dogs.
Hailey’s dramatic actions took place over Memorial Day weekend and the video subsequently went viral on TikTok.

The video begins with a bear and some cubs walking atop a fence. Unfortunately, these types of wildlife interactions are increasing due to wildlife habitat destruction and fragmentation. The brown bear was walking atop the fencing when several dogs came running toward it.
The brown bear began swatting at one of the dogs and had it made its way into the yard, the dogs certainly would have been in severe danger.
Hailey wasn’t going to let that happen, however.
Bring it on, brown bear.
In general, experts don’t recommend picking a fight with a brown bear, and for obvious reasons. That goes tenfold when you’re dealing with an actual mama bear, though.
There’s a reason people refer to themselves as mama bears when it comes to their kids. They’ll do anything to protect their young.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, however, and Hailey was not going to let that bear into the yard. She bravely ran right up to it and pushed it off the fence.
Hailey then, clearly panicking, ran to collect the dogs in the yard.
“Those few moments I had, that’s what really let me run away with my dogs and my life,” Morinico said to CNN.
Courage comes to those who care.
“I was just shaking so much, I didn’t know I had that in me. I still couldn’t believe that I pushed a bear,” Hailey Morinico said in a television interview.
Do you know why Hailey found the strength to confront a freaking large brown bear? Because she really cared about those dogs. Sometimes being an awesome animal-lover can give people superpowers, like insane courage and bear-pushing abilities.
“I had about two seconds to think. And the first thing that popped into my head was to push the bear off the ledge,” she said.
Saving her mother’s emotional support animal.
That bear could have attacked Hailey. In general, brown bears tend to have a physical advantage over teenagers. That was a risk she was going to take, however.
Hailey would later explain to the media that one of the dogs was her mother’s emotional support animal.
“This dog, Valentina, was in danger, really, and she is so important to the family,” Morinico said.
“She is my mother’s emotional support animal, and I couldn’t bear to let anything happen to her because I know, like, the pain would have been too much for my mom to handle. I think that I did this for her.”
All of the dogs walked away completely unscathed, even the ones the bear was swatting at. Hailey sprained her finger but was otherwise unharmed.
“I didn’t feel the pain until afterwards. Like all the madness and the adrenaline, it didn’t make me feel anything really,” Morinico continued.
“It’s just so crazy to have that on camera cause it’s such an amazing story to tell,” she continued.
