Dogs are such versatile and adorable animals. They can be some of the hardest workers with jobs in many places like search and rescue, police force, and so on.

Dogs have throughout history worked alongside as an essential part of our society.

Although, I bet you’ve never seen a four-legged being with this job.

Meet Friar Bigotón.

Formerly known as Carmelo, this adorable pup has now devoted his life to being a monk. He lives at the Franciscan Monastery of Cochabamba in Bolivia.

This Schnauzer even has his own specially fitted outfit for his work. The outfit really is the best part of the whole thing.

He fits the part well.

You’ve probably never seen a dog who is currently living as a friar. Although it seems very fitting, given St. Francis of Assisi, also known as the patron saint of animals, is the saint in which the Franciscan order had formed.

He’s truly a symbol of their principles and clearly fits in well!

Life wasn’t always easy before monkhood.

Prior to dedicating his life to the monastery, Carmello didn’t have the easiest life. He had been living on the streets before a miracle happened.

Thanks to Proyecto Narices Frías (Cold Nose Project), a local animal rescue, Carmello’s life would take a tremendous turn for the better.

Being such a success, the rescue hopes his story can provide inspiration and initiative to other monasteries to consider adopting animals too.

The monastery wrote on Facebook,

“If only all the churches of our country adopt a dog and care for him like Friar Bigotón,”

The monastery’s cutest resident.

Unlike the other monks, his fellow friars said that Friar Bigotón doesn’t have to give up many of his old habits. He spends his days just like any other ordinary pup.

Jorge Fernandez, a monk at the monastery, told The Dodo,

“His life is all about playing and running. Here, all of the brothers love him very much. He is a creature of God.”

The monks love their adorable furry friend.

As you can see, his fellow friars love to share pictures of their favorite four-legged friend. One monk, Franciscan Kasper Mariusz Kaproń, caught his fellow friar preaching to the fish.

It seems this adorable pup has turned his life completely around by the grace of a miracle.

Friar Bigotón has finally found his forever home.

Not only has this pup dedicated his life to being a monk, but he also provides a light of hope to those animals in need of a home. Hopefully, this story provides inspiration for more parishioners to bring animals into their monasteries.

I hope this becomes a thing of normalcy within these places all around the world. I bet everyone would benefit from it.
