While the family was at the funeral home, a pack of Suarez's beloved stray "pets" arrived to grieve their favorite person.

You will always be remembered for how you live.

You will not be remembered for your material wealth but for your kindness, generosity, and upholding the common good for those around you.

A matriarch from Mexico proved just how profound one’s impact could be in the bigger scheme of things, for when she finally passed on, she was not only remembered by friends and family but by a group that none expected.

Margarita Suarez of Merida, Yucatan, passed away after her long battle with an illness.

Friends and family gathered in her wake to celebrate the life she lived.

And as they shared tears and stories about their dear Margarita, a group came into the wake to pay their respects.

They came in different shapes, sizes, and breeds. One would say that they have no definitive breed at all.

They were all stray dogs, and they came to Suarez’s funeral.

Suarez was known in her area as an avid dog lover.

She was said to be kind to all animals and would use her time and resources to ensure they were well-fed.

She was even known for taking a bag of food with her whenever she was out to feed any animal in need along the way.

Since then, her morning feeding routine has attracted stray dogs and cats. They’d show up in front of her house to share a meal.

This time, however, Suarez’s service for them ends.

The animals must’ve sensed it too, because even if it wasn’t feeding time, they came into the funeral in droves and packs.

It was also not the house where they ate but the funeral parlor where Suarez’s remains were.

The funeral parlor workers said they didn’t know who the animals were and who owned them.

Then, people eventually realized that these were all special guests.

They allowed the animals to come in when they realized these were Suarez’s “pets.”

True to their suspicions, the dogs quietly came in and did what most mourning pets do – they lay peacefully under and near her coffin.

According to Patricia Urrutia’s post, the dogs lay in vigil and interacted a bit with other people in attendance.

They left early in the morning.

The dogs returned, however, when Suarez was being carried to her final resting place.

The dogs joined the procession together with Suarez’s friends and family.

In the end, these animals showed how much Suarez meant to them.

The actions of these animals were proof of how generous and caring Suarez was when she was still alive.

The dogs only left when Suarez’s body was prepared for cremation.

But in this simple act of love, Urrutia knew that they and the animals surrounding her loved her mother.

She even said in her Facebook post that she had no intention of posting about her mother’s funeral, but what happened was so amazing and unbelievable that she just had to show it to the world.

Indeed, we will be remembered for how we gave, loved, and cared for those who needed it the most.
