Even dogs are not exempted from discrimination.

In a typical animal shelter scenario, whenever a potential adopter comes in, they would often look for a young adorable pooch. Sadly, there are a lot of dogs that are being overlooked in an animal shelter like the senior dogs and those with physical defects.

And what’s another thing that they are considering? The dog’s breed.

Staffies are one of those who don’t get easily adopted.

There are tons of things people talk about Staffordshire Bull Terriers and a lot of those remarks are not so good. But most of what they think and say about the breed are just misconceptions.

According to DogTime.com:

“Although they were created in 19th-century Britain to be a small, fast fighting dog, those days are long past. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog breed of today is a fine companion known for their courage, intelligence, and love of children.”

This breed requires the utmost guidance from a responsible owner or trainer:

“Despite their affectionate and playful nature, Staffies do best with experienced pet parents who can socialize them early and keep up with consistent training. Meet the breed’s needs, and you’ll have a faithful, adoring member of the family.”

The Staffordshire, Sybil.

This cutie was formerly named Lily. She was caught and surrendered to the loving home of the All Dogs Matter rescue situated in the northern part of London.

The people from the animal shelter had a hunch Sybil’s going to have a hard time being adopted. Not until they decided to post her beautiful face on social media.

A photo of her smiling started everything beautiful in Sybil’s life.

Her adorable smile made everyone wanting for more photos of her online. She’s able to warm a lot of people’s hearts on the internet. It triggered hundreds of fans to send messages showing how much they love this Staffy’s enchanting beauty.

One of those hundreds is Frankie Murphy.

He said:

“We saw her lovely little smile and couldn’t resist.”

The battle to get Sybil home was then ON!

Murphy knew there’ve been tons of people who showed their desire in adopting the adorable pooch. But that didn’t stop him from showing his genuine interest in giving Sybil her forever home.

Luck was on his side because the dog was still up for adoption. Murphy, together with his family, went on to give Sybil a visit. To no surprise at all, the entire family fell in love with her the moment they laid eyes on her.

Frankie shared:

“We were sitting there in the waiting room, and she walked in with her foster owner, and she was just so excited to see us.”

It’s not about Sybil being the right dog to the Murphys but it’s about them being the right family to her.

It took their family a couple of days to figure out if they are the best family for her. Though they wanted her really bad, they’re also considering what’s best for the cute Staffy.

When they finally sorted everything out, they decided to bring Sybil home. It’s exactly a year after their previous dog crossed the rainbow bridge.

To Sybil, moving into a new home was the first thing and fitting in was another. Gladly, none of those bothered her because she’s settled in her new forever home with so much ease. It’s like she’s the missing piece to the Murphy family’s puzzle.

Sybil’s radiant smile keeps on shining every day and the Murphys couldn’t be happier.

Frankie shared:

“She’s so good, she follows my Dad around like a little shadow, and she doesn’t bark at all. My neighbors didn’t even know we had a new dog because she’s been so quiet. She is so intelligent too, she has managed to open our back door. She’s not tall enough to reach the handle but she can push it with her nose and open it.”

Though Sybil’s story has a “happily ever after”, a lot of other dogs are still in need of kind adopters. Like this smiling Staffy, they too want to meet their forever homes and families.
