Marília and Matheus had been planning their wedding day for months.
When the day finally arrived, they were excited as could be. The morning of the wedding, they saw that storms were predicted in their home of São Paulo, Brazil. But they didn’t let that faze them—they simply moved everything for their outdoor wedding under a tent.
While Marília and Matheus finished getting ready, the storm raged outside. As the guests took their seats under the tent, a stray dog happened to wander by the wedding. The poor dog was drenched, and he desperately wanted shelter.
The dog ran into the tent just as the bridal march began playing. Everyone was shocked when the pup started walking down the aisle instead of Marília!
The guests coaxed the dog outside, and the wedding continued. Marília walked down the aisle and met Matheus by the altar. But then, as the couple exchanged their vows, the dog ran back again.
This time, the dog made it all the way up the aisle. Then, to everyone’s surprise, he laid down on Marília’s veil and took a nap!
Marília is an animal lover, and so she was happy to let the dog stay in the warm, dry tent.
“It was a very pleasant surprise for me, because I love animals,” she told The Dodo. “I liked it very much.”
The dog stayed in the tent for the rest of the ceremony and the first part of the reception. When the rain tapered off, the dog ran back out into the night.
That night, Marília and Matheus discussed their surprise guest, and they decided that they wanted to adopt him. They spent a week trying to track the dog down. Finally, they got a lead!
“We decided to adopt him because he is a street dog,” Marília said. “It took us a long time to find him again, but yesterday, we were contacted and told his whereabouts.”
Marília and Matheus took the dog home and named him Snoop. They gave him a bath and plenty of food and water. Snoop immediately settled into their house—it seemed like he remembered the kindhearted couple who let him stay at their wedding.
“He came home, and I showered him,” Marília said. “He played a lot, ate, drank water. He is very happy and slept super good the first night.”
Snoop loves his new parents, and they love him just as much. Marília summed up everyone’s feelings perfectly:
“We’re all very happy.”
When Snoop crashed Matheus and Marília’s wedding, all he wanted was a warm place to escape the rain. The dog could have never imagined this would lead to the perfect forever home! We’re so glad that Matheus, Marília, and Snoop all found each other. Congratulations to the happy couple and their happy pup!
