Matheus Gomes Martins and Marília Pieroni had a glamorous and romantic wedding 3 years ago in Laranjal Paulista, Brazil.
The Sao Paulo couple tied the knot in a 2017 wedding to remember.
As the groom waited for his beautiful bride, he got a little surprise instead.
A stray dog walked in through the tent. But someone managed to remove the little party crasher before he could speak now or forever hold his peace.
“As the ceremony started, to everyone’s surprise, it was the dog who came in when the bridal chorus began to play,” Marília told The Dodo.
But the biggest surprise was yet to come.
As Marília walked towards her groom a few moments later, she had no idea her vows would be interrupted by the same uninvited guest.
It rained that day – a sign of good fortune on a wedding day! – so the ceremony took place under a tent.
And it turns out the dog wanted to take shelter as well.
(We’re sure he would have happily sidled up to a free dinner if given the chance.)
The couple looked stunning throughout their ceremony.
But nothing made them glow quite as brightly as the furry interloper coming back in during their vows.
The good-natured duo took it in stride. They’re animal lovers and the pup certainly wasn’t hurting anyone.
And we have to hand it to Marília – because when the stray made itself at home by using her delicate veil as a napping spot, she handled it with grace.
The little guy got his nap – and the couple got married.
As the couple finished their ceremony, their guests were all smiles.
And they took the hint from the bride and groom – the dog would be allowed to stay. They weren’t about to send him back out into the storm.
The stray was allowed to enjoy the party that night – muddy paws and all! Word is he even enjoyed a nosh at the buffet.
“It was a very pleasant surprise for me, because I love animals,” the bride said. “I liked it very much.”
Of course, it’s pretty easy to get distracted during a wedding ceremony, so the couple lost track of the dog as they tried to reunite with later.
The couple made another amazing commitment that day.
They decided that it was fate – if they could find the dog, they would make it their pet.
After putting out some feelers, someone had tracked him down and the couple was reunited with the wedding-cashing pup over a week later.
“We decided to adopt him because he is a street dog,” Marília said. “It took us a long time to find him again, but yesterday, we were contacted and told his whereabouts.”
The couple named him Snoop – and they were true to their wedding day words. They adopted him immediately.
And he fit right into the family.
“He came home, and I showered him,” Marília told The Dodo. “He played a lot, ate, drank water. He is very happy and slept super good the first night.”
Their good deed paid off – they’ve been living happily ever after ever since they brought him home.
Just look at how happy these three look – especially Snoop!
“We’re all very happy,” Marília said.
It looks like this fairytale wedding had the perfect ending for animal lovers!
Now, the couple hopes their example will inspire others.
“Here in Brazil, we have so many abandoned animals living in the street,” the bride told HuffPost. “We want to make an appeal to people to not buy animals and to adopt them instead.”
