What would you do if you found a stray dog in your garage?

You might think the dog is lost and is seeking help to find its way home. Unless you are scared of dogs, you will typically find a way to get near them to give them a sense of comfort that they will be okay. You may also think to contact a shelter if you can’t take the dog in yourself.

Meagan King found herself in the unusual situation of having a stray dog in her garage. Luckily, she was very comfortable with animals.

She works as an Animal Behavior Specialist at the Animal Services in Garland, Texas. Naturally, animals would trust her with their lives, especially if they have been abandoned. But this story is rather unique.

She found this skinny dog who showed up in their garage as they pulled over.

The dog looked excited when they arrived. Working with stray animals, Meagan’s initial thought was that the dog had an owner somewhere but got lost. She deduced that he might be hungry, so they fed him.

Meagan thought that would be the last time she’d see the dog. She was wrong.

One morning, she saw that same dog waiting in their garage. It seemed like the dog liked her home, and when it was apparent that he didn’t have any owner, she started giving him food more often. In fact, she gave him a name: Roman.

Working with animals, she was cautious of letting the dog in her house.

Meagan made sure that Roman was healthy, and she got him neutered before letting him inside the house. It was then that he showed his goofy side that Meagan loved.

He was also very playful with her other dog, an 8-year-old pit bull.

Roman was never satisfied with playing alone. He loved the interactivity of playing with someone else. And that eventually came out when he brought a little surprise for Meagan.

Roman walked in the garage one morning with a kitten in tow.

Meagan said she could not keep the kitten but knew that she should do something for the kitten. She took her to their local shelter to have her spayed and freely let her in their property.

Soon enough, Roman and that little kitten became best friends.

He loved it when she dropped by their yard and played with him. It was evident by how he interacted with her and ran around like crazy because he enjoyed the company.

Their story posted by The Dodo’s Facebook page reached more than 5 million views already.

People applauded how Meagan was kind to these animals and never turned them down. Many agreed that Roman chose her and that he somehow knew he found his hooman.

May we all be kind to animals because we’ll never know that we are their forever home.
