Many cats are free spirits. They prefer not to be chained by anyone, and would rather choose who to trust by themselves. Some cat owners want to give that kind of freedom to their cats by letting them live outdoors, given that they have their outdoor shelter and food trays in the yard, which they would always come back to. However, one man decided to let his outdoor cats have a taste of the world inside a human’s home, and it turned out surprisingly well!
The big preparation.
YouTuber Walter Santi takes care of two indoor cats and a total of nine outdoor cats. The nine outdoor cats have been living in the garden for their whole lives and have never stepped inside their home. That is about to change as the owner decided to make an indoor home for all of them.
The man has space to spare, and by putting a wall in between the basement and the rest of the house, he was able to create a large room. He bought and assembled several cathouses, a cat tower, and even collected food bowls for each of his outdoor cats.
The cats watched the man decluttering the whole room and neatly placing the mini-houses inside. They had no idea that the grand preparation was for them.
Welcoming the outdoor cat family.
After setting up the adorable cat posters from the cat’s past adventures, the man finally opened the door for the cats to go inside. They breathed the new atmosphere of the room, and the cats began to split up to explore every corner of the room.
However, one of the cats named D’Artagnan showed hesitation and refused to go inside. He remained just outside the doors, observing his fellow outdoor cats from circling the indoors like people looking at the museum’s art exhibits.
D’Artagnan eventually gained the courage to explore the room and seeing the cats satisfying their curiosity made D’Art envy them.
Most especially when his girlfriend was open to the idea of trying new things. D’Artagnan tried to swallow his fear and slowly headed inside. However, a little noise was enough to make him scurry back with his tail behind his legs.
It took D’art a couple of tries until he was finally able to gain the courage he needed to explore.
He took his sweet time sniffing the houses, the bowls, everything. As he spent his whole life outdoors, putting his paws on the tiled floors was just new to him. It may take some time for him to get used to it, but he’ll surely be able to.
Opening a new door gives them new ways to live like cats.
What a wholesome idea this was. The cats were able to enjoy a lot of ‘first times’ just like getting inside their comfy cathouses, climbing the cat tower, and that one spot on the cabinet, or even as simple as peeking outside the window.
Every sensation was new to them, and it is just wonderful how they tried to get used to it. There is no need to worry too, as this will not stop them from continuing to live outside; in fact, this will serve as a haven for them where they could all eat in peace, and even take shelter during stormy days.
