To rescue a stray cat is already a big act of kindness. But, rescuing a cat who’s pregnant and about to give birth is an even more amazing deed!
When Ashley Morrison from Seattle got a call about a cat in Lake Chelan, Washington that was in need of a foster family, she did not hesitate to come and get the stray kitten. She was told that the cat was pregnant and about to deliver her little ones, and this fact made her all the more excited to see the animal.
As it turns out, the cat was found in the neighborhood, wandering alone and no family is claiming ownership of her. One of the residents in the area took it upon themselves to care for the stray cat and feed it.
Eventually, the resident realized that the cat was actually pregnant so they called Ashley to the neighborhood so the cat could be better cared for. Soon enough Ashley arrived at the neighborhood and saw the cat for the first time.’
“She was a bit skittish when I first met her, and confused about where she was,” Ashley shared with Love Meow.
Back at Ashley’s home, the cat was given food and a place all just for her. Once she realized that she was in a safe place, the kitty started to warm up to Ashley and appreciate the surroundings.
She discovered the Bird TV by the window and was instantly obsessed. The pregnant cat spent a lot of time by the windowsill, watching each day go by.
Because of her incredible love for birds and bird-watching, Ashley called the cat Birdie. As she was getting closer to her due date, Birdie’s belly almost doubled in size.
And one morning, when Ashley came to see Birdie again, she was greeted by the cutest litter of little kitties ever.
“Birdie had her babies overnight,” Ashley said. “In case she felt more comfortable in a quieter darker space, I had put a basket with blankets in the bathroom.”
Ashley provided a lot of options for Birdie to choose from so she could give birth to her kittens as comfortable as possible. What Birdie chose among her options was the basket Ashley gave her.
All in all, Birdie gave birth to five healthy kittens.
She gave birth within the comforts of a home full of love and affection. Her kitties are lucky to be born in such a safe and cozy place, away from the harsh elements that mother cat and babies would surely feel had they stayed outdoors and homeless.
Ashley made sure that Birdie and her kittens are cozy in the area of her house that she provided for the family to stay in.
The cute kittens
Eventually, the kittens grew stronger and they have become even more active and playful. As they all explore, their momma kitty Birdie is always there, watching over her beloved little kittens. The tiny cats, on the other hand, are equally affectionate to their mom who was able to find a foster family to be with just in time for their birth.
Birdie will move on once her duties as a mom are over and she herself can finally focus on being a free and active cat once again. Her kitties named Dove, Finch, Hawk, Raven, and Robin are continuously growing and thriving, with their unique personalities slowly coming through.
It is such a blessing that Birdie and her kittens are finally within safe walls, with nothing but love and care for them to bask in and enjoy.
